Watch: Cody Garbrandt posts alleged sparring KO of TJ Dillashaw as UFC fight nears

He promised there would be a release and he followed through last night…

With one of the biggest MMA events of the year on the horizon in UFC 217, which takes place in the early hours of Sunday morning, the rivalries on the main card are reaching boiling point.

While the main event featuring Michael Bisping and the returning Georges St-Pierre is far from short of a few verbals (mainly from the Mancunian), for many UFC fans the Bantamweight championship bout between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw is the hottest feud the company has seen in years.

Back in the day Garbrandt and Dillashaw were team mates at Team Alpha Male and the high profile split in the camp between founder Urijah Faber and Duane Ludwig kicked off the bad blood between the two fighters.

That springs from Dillashaw’s decision to leave the gym in October 2015 and go with Ludwig’s camp, leading him to be branded a “little snake in the grass” by Garbrandt.

The pair have been swapping insults for months now and in the lead-up to Sunday’s boutCody had been promising to release footage of allegedly knocking out Dillashaw during a sparring session in his days at Team Alpha Male.

Well Garbrandt delivered on that promised last night, as he posted some grainy footage on his Instagram which does appear to be Dillashaw and him scrapping it out. It in you can see the Bantamweight champion land a huge shot on TJ, sending him crashing to the floor.

However, the short clip cuts off before you can see any off the aftermath of the punch.

Asked his opinion of the video, Dillashaw responded to MMAJunkie in a text saying: “Yeah, tell him to keep playing the video.

“I get up and start going again. There was no KO like he’s been stating.”

We’ll leave it up to you to decide if there was a KO or not. However, one thing is for sure – we can’t wait for this fight.
