A trio of Group 1s on the opening day of Royal Ascot 2022 means this year’s meeting breaks from the stalls with a bang.
One of the best horses on the planet, Baaeed, takes centre stage in the first race on the card, the Queen Anne Stakes at 2.30pm. Not only is William Haggas’ charge unbeaten in seven career starts, he’s also a course-and-distance winner after beating Palace Pier in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on British Champions Day. Paddy’s also giving away a free £/€5 bet to every Paddy Power customer to spend on this race!
The sprinters get their chance to shine in the second Group 1 of the day, the King’s Stand Stakes at 3.40pm. You can expect a fast-and-furious dash over 5f and Australian sprinter Nature Strip is the one to beat on ratings.
We’ll also get the chance to see 2000 Guineas winner Coroebus for the first since his Newmarket success in the St James’s Palace Stakes at 4.20pm.
