Grand National tips: Paddy Power’s ULTIMATE Cheat Sheet for Aintree 2023

More excited views here than on Barry's video at the bowls.

Think picking a winner in the Grand National is a lottery? Think again.

We’ve all heard dirty Drew from the pub’s insider info, granny’s ‘always back the gray’ theory and the postman’s penchant for the one with the funniest name.

They’re all fine methods, and who are we to meddle with tradition? But maybe, just maybe, there’s another way.

Yes siree, it’s time for Paddy’s ULTIMATE Grand National Cheat Sheet taking in insight from everyone from National winning jockeys Ruby Walsh, Slippers Madden and Mick Fitzgerald to the Crouch/Clancy power couple and, of course, Barry From Eastenders.

You can marvel at it below or CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD to share with your friends (or enemies).

If you’re a bit more modern, then our digital version is probably more up your street.

You can find that directly below. Simples!

Oh, and you are most welcome. Surely this lot can pick a winner between them?

Ruby Walsh

Jane Mangan

Paddy Power

Nina Carberry

Matt Chapman

Mick Fitzgerald

Frank Hickey

Paul Jacobs

Slippers Madden

Rory Delargy

Fran Berry

Jason Weaver

Peter Crouch

Abbey Clancy

Mark Lawrenson

Phil Thompson

Barry From Eastenders

Ruby Walsh

I could rule out 25 horses but picking one winner is very hard and I honestly don’t know, so I’ll go for what I want to see win it which is my dad’s runner ANY SECOND NOW.

Jane Mangan

Ever since finishing sixth last year, I have fancied LONGHOUSE POET to improve that position. I suspect horse and team will have learned some valuable lessons.

Paddy Power

GAILLARD DU MESNIL has a great chance of providing Willie Mullins with a Grand National win on both sides of the Irish Sea this week. He impressed me at Cheltenham.

Nina Carberry

I’d love ANY SECOND NOW to go one better than last year. He’s done it every year finishing third and second but the handicapper hasn’t been kind to him this year.

Matt Chapman

DELTA WORK was third in 2022 behind Noble Yeats and is a similar type to Tiger Roll. Was a brilliant winner at Cheltenham last time and has every chance.

Frank Hickey

ROI MAGE is a big price but ticks plenty of boxes. A proven winner over in France on testing ground and long distances, stamina shouldn’t be a problem for him.

Paul Jacobs

For win purposes only VANILLIER is my pick, but if you want something longer Gabbys Cross, The Big Breakaway, Roi Mage, Enjoy D’Allen and Fortescue could go well.

Slippers Madden

I do fancy CORACH RAMBLER. He was good at Cheltenham and he’s off a nice weight. The jockey and trainer have won it before.

Rory Delargy

CAPODANNO doesn’t have loads of experience, and it’s just his second start since April last year but he got a similar profile to last year’s winner. With Danny and Willie Mullins never say never!

Fran Berry

I’m siding with CAPODANNO. I think he’s a big player with Paddy Power paying six places on the race.

Jason Weaver

DUNBOYNE has only had the seven chase runs with the best a 2nd at Gowran over 3m 1f. He will be overlooked but has a bit of attitude which is required to win the ultimate test.

Peter Crouch

I like numbers 9, 14, 15, 16, 25 and 28… because they are all shirt numbers I wore in my career! But the one I’ll back to do the business is THE BIG BREAKAWAY.

Abbey Clancy

MR INCREDIBLE is my pick. We love the films and had Mr & Mrs Incredible figurines on our wedding cake! Seems as good a reason as any when it comes to the National.

Mark Lawrenson

ANY SECOND NOW was runner-up last year, and I’m thinking that makes him a value bet for my money, as we could be on for another placed finish. He’s my boy!

Phil Thompson

What a weekend this is every year! My No.1 pick is ANY SECOND NOW. He’s finished second and third in the past but his time is now!

Barry From Eastenders

It’s MINELLA TRUMP for me. Trained by a Donald as well. Will hope to ‘be in the clear’ on the day.

Mick Fitzgerald

I have gone for CORACH RAMBLER for the team that won the race with One For Arthur back in 2017. He was so good at Cheltenham when wining the Ultima.
