Grand National on TV: How to watch the 2022 Aintree Grand National on TV

Why wouldn't you want to watch?

It’s one of the best days on the sporting calendar as 40 runners and riders tackle the iconic spruce fences at Aintree as they bid to write their name in the history books.

Yes, there really is nothing quite like the Grand National and a stellar cast has been declared for this year’s renewal including Any Second Now, Delta Work, Fiddlerontheroof and last year’s winner Minella Times.

The beauty of big sporting moments is that it’s only live once so you won’t want to miss a second of the action from Aintree. If you’re planning to watch the race on your telly box but are unsure what channel you need to tune into or when the coverage starts then, don’t fret, as we’re on hand to bring you all those important details.

ITV Racing is the home of Grand National television coverage for viewers in the United Kingdom and the gang have a delightful day of coverage lined up to build the hype for the world’s greatest steeplechase.

The Opening Show previews the action from 9.30am on ITV4 before a chance to watch the Virtual Grand National from 1pm on ITV. The channel’s live coverage of the third and final day of the Aintree Grand National Festival 2022 begins from 2pm.

The Grand National is set to start at 5.15pm but you can be sure Ed Chamberlin and the rest of the ITV Racing crew will have plenty of previews and post-race analysis to enjoy as they’re on air until 6.15pm. If you’re turning in from Ireland then you’ll find that Virgin Media One carries the live coverage from 2pm until 6.20pm.
