The latest winner of the Epsom Derby has been crowned but we’re already dreaming of 2022.
The 2021 Epsom Derby was restored to its traditional slot of the first Saturday in June after last year’s renewal was pushed back to July because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It’ll be business as usual in 12 months time but there’s an added dash of glitz and glamour to throw into the mix.
The 2022 Derby Festival will kick off on Friday June 3 with the Epsom Oaks and Coronation Cup once again the feature races on the opening day.

The second day of the meeting is slated for Saturday June 4 and it’s really all about the Epsom Derby.
If you’re wondering what the twist is, well it takes place on the same weekend as Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
A renowned horse enthusiast, the Queen and members of the Royal Family will attend the Derby at Epsom Downs.
A four-day Bank Holiday weekend has been earmarked for the United Kingdom so a bumper crowd is expected at the iconic track for the two-day meeting if coronavirus restrictions are a thing of the past.

Derby Festival bigwig Phil White said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support Her Majesty The Queen has given to The Derby over several decades.
“To be afforded this opportunity to celebrate the contribution she has made to horseracing, to British life and the Commonwealth, is a real honour for all of us at The Jockey Club.
“Planning for this very special occasion has already begun, even before we have staged this year’s Cazoo Derby Festival this weekend.”
