PADDY POWER TRADERS PICK THEIR TUESDAY TOP TIPS

13:20 – William Munny (Ryan McCue)
13:20 – Kopek Des Bordes (Patrick O’Flynn)
15:20 – Kala Conti (Adrian Galvin)
17:20 – Transmission (Frank Hickey)
17:20 – Haiti Couleurs (Adam Killeen)
17:20 – Haiti Couleurs (Niall O’Reilly)

13:20 William Munny (Ryan McCue)

WILLIAM MUNNY has to turn around his form with Workahead, but I like his preparation for this more than him. Since they met, his jumping has improved.

Kopek Des Bordes sets a high standard if everything falls into place for him, but at the prices, I think William Munny can at least get into the frame.

13:20 Kopek Des Bordes (Patrick O’Flynn)

KOPEK DES BORDES shot to prominence when he won the George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper by 13 lengths at Fairyhouse’s Easter Festival in 2024.

He improved significantly from hurdle debut (form which has been well franked since) when winning the Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle by 13 lengths at the DRF in February.

He impressively lengthened away from rivals on the turn in that day and I think there is a lot more improvement to come from him on just his 3rd hurdles start.

The drift in price comes after Willie Mullins announced he would wear a hood for the first time. This was also the case in 2024 with Gaelic Warrior, who went on to win the Arkle by 8 1/2 lengths.

I fully expect Kopek Des Bordes to start the week well for Paul Townend and Willie Mullins.

15:20 Kala Conti (Adrian Galvin)

The only 5-year-old in the race, KALA CONTI held her own against the best juveniles last season.

The form of her second at Christmas has been franked on a couple of occasions since, with Jetara winning a grade 2, and World of Fortunes winning a listed contest, both of whom were finished well adrift of her.

Kala Conti fared best of those who went with the fast early pace on that occasion and was just picked off late on by July Flower who was ridden more patiently.

With no obvious frontrunner in the lineup, Jack Kennedy could get his own way up front, and, presumably, Paul Townend will be content to take his time on the short-price favorite Lossiemouth.

It is also worth noting that Cullentra have sent just three runners to the Mares Hurdle in the last four years. They finished 1st at 11/1, 2nd at 4/1 and 3rd at 16/1.

At 16/1, I think she has a great chance of hitting the frame, and it wouldn’t be the biggest shock if Lossiemouth were turned over, given her heavy fall last time.

17:20 Transmission (Frank Hickey)

TRANSMISSION was a progressive staying handicap hurdler last season and has really taken well to chasing this season.

His whole season appears to be geared around this race, as all four starts have come at Cheltenham.

His course record is two seconds either side of a handicap win off a mark of 129. Then he had a prep run over hurdles in the Cleeve Hurdle.

That prep is notable because trainer Neil Mulholland used that prep for The Druids Nephew when that horse went on to win the Ultima at the festival.

Transmission has never been beyond 3m2f, but shapes like he will relish the test of stamina he will get at 3m6f.

It would be a great story if amateur jockey Patrick Mullins could ride the winner in the first edition of the National Hunt Chase, now open to the professionals.

17:20 Haiti Couleurs (Adam Killeen)

HAITI COULEURS has improved massively since switching to fences.

He has won at the course and looks sure to improve again for the step up in distance.

He looks like developing into a national horse, and his mark of 135 looks very fair.

17:20 Haiti Couleurs (Niall O’Reilly)

HAITI COULEURS is a brilliant jumper who has had the ideal prep for this race. Two starts ago, he beat the opposing Transmission quite comfortably at the track.

I was really taken by how he went through that race. He travelled exceptionally well and really only asked for maximum effort after the last.

I think he’ll stay this trip well and should take a lot of the beating, with the ground gone against one of his main dangers, Now Is The Hour.
