In the sixth of this year’s Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Cheltenham Countdown’, host Tom Nugent together with former jockey turned pundit Nina Carberry and well-known journalist and broadcaster Rory Delargy, look at the Mares Novices Hurdle on day four of the 2024 Cheltenham Festival.

RORY DELARGY
I previously put Brighterdaysahead up as a shot in the dark in the Mares Hurdle rather than the Mares Novice Hurdle because I think she is that good.
I have said before that she needed to brush up on her jumping, which was absolutely perfect at the weekend.
She is an absolute superstar in the making. Her trainer, Gordon Elliott, said she had a slight setback after Down Royal, so she will definitely be going in the Novices Hurdle. He had considered putting her up against more experienced mares before that.
Now, she has missed a bit of time but will improve for the run, and if she does, she will be very very hard to beat.
The front three are all pretty smart, but Brighterdaysahead is a level above. She is exceptional. I would be happy to back her at shorter odds than she is.
You can pick out horses there and say this is going to be a competitive race, but she sets a remarkably high standard.
She is at 9/4 now. I would happily back her at 6/4.
