Cheltenham Tips: Mick Fitzgerald’s Day 3 fancies at the Festival

After four winners on Wednesday, Mick just can't see past Shishkin in the Ryanair Chase.

Mick Fitzgerald’s Cheltenham Tips

13:30 – Banbridge
14:10 – Captain Morgs (each-way)
14:50 – Shiskin
15:30 – Home By The Lee
16:10 – Frero Banbou (each-way)
16:50 – Luccia (NAP)
17:30 – Mr Incredible

THAT’S DAY 3 DONE, FOLKS. BUT DON’T MISS MORE TOP TIPS FOR FRIDAY AT CHELTENHAM:

13:30 – Banbridge

Joseph O’Brien’s runner is two from two at Cheltenham. He won the Martin Pipe Conditionals race last year and that form is very solid. The slight concern about BANBRIDGE is the going as he would prefer better ground. Mighty Potter is very good and could be the best in the race. The worry with him is that he bombed out at the Festival last year in the Supreme Novices Hurdle although the ground was a lot quicker.

14:10 – Captain Morgs (each-way)

He is named after the Irishman, Eoin Morgan, who is a former England one-day cricket captain. He is owned by a real enthusiastic bunch and this race will suit him. The faster they go the better he looks and CAPTAIN MORGS has winning form at the track earlier this season.

14:50 – Shishkin

I am a huge fan of SHISHKIN but the slight concern is the ‘bounce’ factor. He won very impressively at Ascot. Ideally, you’d love to watch him jump the first three fences and then join in but that’s not going to happen! He looked superb after three fences at Ascot last time and you knew he would win that day. I still think he can underperform to a degree and still be good enough to win. Janidil is the each-way play  in the race. He looked good when winning at Gowran Park.

15:30 – Home By The Lee

It could be a big day for Irish trainer Joseph O’Brien as HOME BY THE LEE has improved in leaps and bounds this season. He certainly looks the safest option in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle in what is a trappy race. The French horse Gold Tweet was supplemented after bursting onto the scene last time when winning the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle very easily. You cannot discount him.

16:10 – Frero Banbou (each-way)

Venetia Williams’ runner was third in the Grand Annual last year and this looks the perfect opportunity for FRERO BANBOU to do just as well again stepping up to 2m 4f. So Scottish is the big danger as Emmet Mullins’ Irish raider looks like he is well handicapped.

16:50 – Luccia (NAP)

This is a very good mare. Nico de Boineville was very keen on this one running in the supreme novices hurdle that tells you how good they believe she is. I think LUCCIA (NAP) will win here, especially on this track as it puts less pressure on her jumping which is a slight weakness.

17:30 – Mr Incredible

Patrick Mullins rides the top weight MR INCREDIBLE in this amateur jockeys’ handicap and this could be the perfect set up before a tilt at next month’s Aintree Grand National. He has some very good back form and this 3m 2f trip looks perfect for the seven-year-old.
