17:45 That’s all, folks

So there we have it… Cheltenham 2023 is done, dusted and consigned to the history books – and what history was made. Those 45 minutes on Tuesday will live long in the memory as we cheered Honeysuckle into the sunset and Constitution Hill laid down a marker.

Sire Du Berlais upset the odds in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle yesterday and Galopin Des Champs showed his class to romp home in the 2023 Gold Cup.

It’s been great fun. Let’s do it all again next year. Oh, and happy St Patrick’s Day one and all.

17:40 Go Iroko go!

17:35 Iroko wins the Martin Pipe!

It was a barn-storming finish to the 2023 Cheltenham Festival as Iroko rallied from an unpromising-looking 3rd position to rattle home. It looked like his race was run but he dug deep and burst in-between No Ordinary Joe and Buddy One to claim the final prize on this sparkling week. Might I and Imagine made up the places.

RESULT

1: 8. Iroko 6/1
2: 7. No Ordinary Joe 14/1
3: 20. Buddy One 28/1
4: 2. Might I 6/1
5: 5. Imagine 5/1

17:15 And finally…

And so we come to the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle and the end of another sterling Cheltenham Festival in just a quarter of an hour. But, before we get too glum and start counting down the days ’til 2024, we’ve got this 2m4f contest to come.

We’ve a wide spread of opinions here with a couple of shouts for Cool Survivor, including Mick who was on the winner in the last. Ruby fancies Spirit Of Legend at a big price.

17:05 Mrs P would be proud

16:55 Impervious wins the Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase!

The two best horses in the market turned out to be the best in the field as Impervious and Allegorie De Vassy were neck-and-neck over the last. The latter initially looked to take the ascendency on landing but Impervious refused to lie down and battled back to take Friday’s 6th race at the Festival.

RESULT

1: 3. Impervious 15/8
2: 1. Allegorie De Vassy 13/8
3: 8. Pink Legend 33/1
4: 9. Zambella 22/1

16:40 Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase

Our penultimate race is our favourite race of the festival, the Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase! we’ve got four shouts for Allegorie De Vassy over on the mighty Cheat Sheet but Mick’s putting his neck on the line for Impervious.

16:25 Traffic in the Cotswolds

16:20 Premier Magic wins the Hunters’ Chase!

Another crazy finish on the final day of the Festival as a number of loose horses get in the way of those trailing in the wake of the big-priced winner Premier Magic. Its On The Line battled through the traffic for second from the old warhorse Shantou Flyer and Rocky’s Howya in 4th.

RESULT

1: 18. Premier Magic 66/1
2: 12. Its On The Line 28/1
3: 21. Shantou Flyer 50/1
4: 19. Rocky’s Howya 11/1

16:00 Hunters’ Chase next up

After that magnificent Gold Cup it’s time for the Festival Challenge Cup Open Hunters’ Chase over 3m2f. Vaucelet is the big fav, and he gets a few nods on the Cheat Sheet, but there’s also a couple of shouts for Chris’s Dream at a bit of a price.

15:55 Townend takes us through it

15:45 Galopin for gold

15:40 Galopin Des Champs wins the 2023 Gold Cup!!

Ahoy Senor lead them along early before falling with six to go. Galopin Des Champs and A Plus Tard took up the rear with the latter hampered and then pulled up. It was left to Hewick to briefly head the charge before Galopin Des Champs and Bravemansgame soon went for it. The pair were neck-and-neck over the last but the Mullins horse was the class act and he stretched away to take the 2023 Gold Cup! Bravemansgame followed him home ahead of Conflated and Noble Yates who stayed on well.

RESULT

1: 6. Galopin Des Champs 7/5
2: 3. Bravemansgame 6/1
3: 4. Conflated 22/1
4: 9. Noble Yeats 14/1

15:20 Get Ready For The Gold Cup!

Here we go then, the 2023 Gold Cup is finally upon us.

Will the favourite Galopin Des Champs get the job done or will there be a repeat of his tumble last year? Ruby, Jane and Matt have pinned their colours to his mast.

Mick’s staying loyal to A Plus Tard and noted tipster James Nesbitt’s just thrown his weight behind Rachel Blackmore’s mount on the telly.

Matt fancies Minella Indo each way and Frank’s put up Sounds Russian at a hefty price as well.

Just 10 minutes to go! Good luck, everyone. You can find the full betting here.

15:05 That Bonkers Albert Bartlett Finish

14:55 Stay Away Fay wins the Albert Bartlett!

Wow! SP fav Corbetts Cross clatters into the upright running out at the last flight and sends Mark Walsh flying! As we reel from that, Stay Away Fay just keeps them at bay to take the Albert Bartlett, It’s a crazy finish and we’ve got some big-priced horses at the sharp end. Affordale Fury ran a huge race for second ahead of Sandor Clegane and Letsbeclearaboutit.

RESULT

1: 17. Stay Away Fay 18/1
2: 1. Affordale Fury 150/1
3: 13. Sandor Clegane 28/1
4: 9. Letsbeclearaboutit 16/1
5: 19. Three Card Brag 4/1

14:40 Albert Bartlett incoming…

We’re just 50 minutes away from the Gold Cup but first up it’s the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett over 3m. Jane and Frank like Three Card Brag while Mick’s NAP of the day, Corbetts Cross, also gets the nod from Ruby.

14:25 What a scrap going up the hill…

14:15 Faivoir wins the County Hurdle!

It was a stunning finish to the County Hurdle as Faivoir and Pied Piper went head to head, the lead changing had with each stride, but it was Faivoir up the inside to just pip it. Filey Bay followed those two a couple of lengths back in ahead of Sharjah and Ballyadam.

RESULT

1: 23. Faivoir 33/1
2: 2. Pied Piper 12/1
3: 14. Filey Bay 6/1
4: 1. Sharjah 10/1
5: 6. Ballyadam 12/1

14:00 County Hurdle incoming

This is your 10 minute warning for the County Hurdle and we’ve a right old spread on the Cheat Sheet. There’s a couple of pokes for Pembroke, who’s going off as fav, and there’s a mention for Ballyadam at a price.

13:45 Willie Mullers ’em

13:40 Lossiemouth wins the Triumph Hurdle!

A fantastically bonkers race with false starts, horses careering off down the track and another one swinging left when everyone went straight on. But in the end if was the serious horses who made all the big noises when it mattered as Lossiemouth careered forward to win nicely under Paul Townend. Gala Marceau was next ahead of Zenta and Gust Of Wind.

RESULT

1: 14. Lossiemouth 11/8
2: 12. Gala Marceau 10/3
3: 15. Zenta 12/1
4: 5. Gust Of Wind 22/1

13:20 10 minutes until the Triumph

It’s a straight shootout between Lossiemouth and Blood Destiny at the top of the Triumph Hurdle market and these two get two votes each on the cheat sheet but Frank likes the 3rd-fav Gala Marceau.

13:00 Today’s popular multis

12:30 Happy St Patrick’s Day!

St Patrick’s Day and Gold Cup Day… it doesn’t get much better than this. The bittersweet element is that in five hours we’ll have waved a teary farewell to the 2023 Cheltenham Festival but let’s make the most of it while we still have it.

Day Four’s action gets underway with the Triumph Hurdle in under an hour. Bring it on!

17:50 And that’s a wrap for Thursday!

Well there we have it. Another superb Cheltenham day securely in the bag. We’ll be back to do it all again on Friday for the final day of the Festival and remember, don’t be sad it’s over be happy it happened.

Still, Gold Cup day tomorrow. Chin up.

17:45 What a finish!

17:35 Angels Dawn wins the Kim Muir!

Another brilliant finish to round off another incredible day at Prestbury Park and it’s Angels Dawn who just held off Stumptown in a topsy-turvy run up the home straight. The lead went back and forth but the 10/1 shot just got home. Mr Incredible was a little way back in third ahead of Dunboyne and Defi Bleu who rounded off the places.

RESULT

1: 22. Angels Dawn 10/1
2: 15. Stumptown 7/2
3: 1. Mr Incredible 4/1
4: 6. Dunboyne 8/1
5: 9. Defi Bleu 40/1

17:20 Kim Muir Challenge Cup

Thursday draws to a close with the Kim Muir and Ruby’s put up his NAP of the day in this one, Stumptown. Jane agrees but it’s Beaport for Matt and Frank.

17:00 Very Well Done

16:55 You Wear It Well wins the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle

You Wear It Well put in a battling, game performance to take the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle from the front. Magical Zoe was next home in front of Halka Du Tabert and the well-fancied favourite Luccia.

RESULT

1: 3. You Wear It Well 16/1
2: 2. Magical Zoe 15/2
3: 9. Halka Du Tabert 12/1
4: 1. Luccia 6/4

16:50 Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle

There’s a lot of love for Luccia over on the Cheat Sheet in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle and she’s Mick’s NAP of the day so sit up and take note! Jane and Matt are also tipping the fav while Frank and Ruby are backing Lot Of Joy to get it done.

16:30 Seddon sees them off

16:20 Seddon wins the Magners Plate!

John McConnell’s Seddon cruised away from Fugitif, who just faded a touch, to bag the Magners Plate inside the final 1/2 furlong. He travelled lovely and always looked game. A few had a pop but none could really come close. Shakem Up’arry just got third ahead of Gevrey and Haut En Couleurs.

RESULT

1: 13. Seddon 20/1
2: 6. Fugitif 11/1
3: 16. Shakem Up’arry 16/1
4: 18. Gevrey 125/1
5: 1. Haut En Couleurs 15/2

16:00 Magners Plate up next

It’s another big-field handicap up in 10 minutes where So Scottish heads the market. Jane’s on board with that but Ruby and Mick are both putting up Frero Banbou as an each-way punt.

15:45 Sire stays on and on

15:35 Sire Du Berlais wins the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle!

A typically bruising Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle was won in gutsy fashion by Sire Du Berlais who kept trucking on to really grind it out. Dashel Drasher went so close but couldn’t cling on at an even bigger price than the winner and Teahupoo couldn’t quite get up for second ahead of the valiant Flooring Porter.

*Teahupoo put up to second and Dashel Drasher demoted to third after a steward’s enquiry*

RESULT

1: 10. Sire Du Berlais 33/1
2: 11. Teahupoo 9/4
3: 3. Dashel Drasher 40/1
4: 4. Flooring Porter 9/2

15:15 Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle Preview

It’s nearly time for the main event, the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle! A good spread of opinions over on the Cheat Sheet. Ruby and Jane like the look of Teahupoo while Matt fancies Flooring Porter to make it a hat-trick!

15:00 Envoi’s hat trick!

14:55 Envoi Allen wins the Ryanair!

Envoi Allen rolled back the years to win the Ryanair in style under Rachel Blackmore! Looked the most likely all the way with Shishkin struggling for rhythm and nailing the third last. The latter rallied for second ahead of Hitman and French Dynamite.

RESULT

1: 3. Envoi Allen 13/2
2: 9. Shishkin EVS
3: 7. Hitman 22/1
4: 4. French Dynamite 28/1

14:40 Ryanair Chase Ready For Lift Off

Our first big gamble of the day didn’t get it done so it’s all eyes on Shishkin in the Ryanair Chase next. In typical style, Matt’s the odd-one-out on the Cheat Sheet and he likes Fury Road as an each-way play.

14:25 Jonny be good

14:15 Good Time Jonny wins the Pertemps Final!

We were treated to a full-on cavalry charge with anywhere in the region of 12 having a live chance over the last. Good Time Jonny broke clear from nowhere on the outside to win by a couple of lengths but there was a shedloads over next within a couple of lengths. It took some sorting out for the places but Good Time Jonny is our clear winner. Salvador Ziggy was next home ahead of Mill Green, Green Book, Walking On Air and An Tailliur.

RESULT

1: 5. Good Time Jonny 9/1
2: 1. Salvador Ziggy 10/1
3: 11. Mill Green 22/1
4: 9. Green Book 40/1
5: 12. Walking On Air 9/1
6: 10. An Tailliur 10/1

14:00 Pertemps preview

Lots of ways to play the Pertemps Final with Paddy paying six places. Thanksforthehelp has been well fancied but Salvador Ziggy is the big market mover. Matt likes the former, Frank the latter, and Mick’s on one at a price, Captain Morgs.

13:50 Stage Star Steals The Show

13:40 Stage Star wins the Turners Novices’ Chase!

He led them all the way round and no-one could pass Stage Star as he accelerated away over the line to take the opener on day three. A few tried with Notlongtillmay the main protagonist, putting in a huge effort for second place, ahead of the more fancied Mighty Potter and Appreciate It.

RESULT

1: 8. Sage Star 15/2
2: 7. Notlingtillmay 40/1
3: 6. Mighty Potter 4/6
4: 1. Appreciate It 3/1

13:20 Almost Time for the Turners

First up on Thursday it’s the Turners Novice’s Chase and one of the big punts of the day, Mighty Potter. Davy Russell’s mount is in to odds on now and, as you can see below, will form the backbone of many an acca today. Appreciate It looks to be the main threat but Mick’s backing Banbridge on the Cheat Sheet.

Remember, if you want to enter today’s Pick 5 Competition you’ve for until the off in the opener so get a move on!

13:00 Popular punts to ponder

Here’s what Paddy’s punters are piling into as we approach the first race of the day.

12:45 Something to whet the appetite

Good ol’ Paddy’s dishing out another Cheltenham free bet for you to use in any race you fancy today so make sure you head over and claim that right away.

There’s still time to get involved in our daily free to enter racing competition, Paddy’s Pick 5. Entry runs right up until just before the first race of the day so scoot on over because there’s Є/£50,000 up for grabs today and every day of the Festival. Did I mention that is was free?

It’s well worth looking over Paddy’s legendary Cheat Sheet which has a barrage of best bets from the brightest minds in the game for every race on every day.

There’s also tonnes of Cheltenham horse racing tips on PP News as well. You are most welcome.

We’ve also got the latest weather updates for today, today’s racecards and trends to note for today’s big races and much, much more.

Thursday’s action gets underway in under 45 minutes so get swotting up.

12:30 It’s Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle Day

Welcome back to our virtual Prestbury Park wherever you are in the world as we limber up for day three of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival!

Thursday sees the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle, the Ryanair Chase taking place but we kick off with the Turners Chase in just under an hour.

It’s looking like we’ve got another thoroughly excellent day on the menu.

17:45 Thank you and goodnight

And that’s a wrap on day two of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival! Delta Work and Energumene took the big races for the second year in succession and we were treated to some close finishes and increasingly challenging weather.

But this train don’t stop here. Oh, no. We’re back tomorrow for day three AKA Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle day where we’ve also got the Magners’ Plate, the Ryanair Chase and the Turners to kick us off.

So join us on Thursday for more tips, craic and reaction if you like. Get studying the form and we’ll see you tomorrow.

17:40 A Dream Start

17:35 A Dream To Share Wins the Champion Bumper!

It was a bit of a scrum inside the final furlong but A Dream To Share muscled his way to glory for the old boy John Kiely in Wednesday’s final race. Plenty had chances heading for home and the hold-up horses were the ones who challenged at the death. Fact To File was next home followed by Captain Teague and Lecky Watson.

RESULT

1: 1. A Dream To Share 7/2
2: 9. Fact To File 16/5
3: 5. Captain Teague 40/1
4: 14. Lecky Watson 80/1

17:15 Ohhhhh, we’re half-way there

Aaaaand that brings us to the final race on day two and the half-way mark, it’s the Champion Bumper. Lots of lively contenders in here so we’ll revert to the trusty Cheat Sheet.

Jane’s in sensational form and it’s Fun Fun Fun for her and those following her punts today . Frank’s got a big priced one in No Time To Wait and Fact To File is the Willie horse that Ruby likes.

Four places up for grabs here, people.

17:05 All-action Grand Annual finish

16:55 Maskada wins the Grand Annual!

Henry de Bromhead’s Maskada paced it beautifully in the 2023 Grand Annual to win by over six lengths in the rain. It was a frantic final few fences with mistakes all over the shop but Maskada stood firm to bolt up in Wednesday’s second to last. Dinoblue followed him home ahead of Global Citizen, Third Time Lucki, Final Orders and Epson Du Houx.

RESULT

1: 16. Maskada 22/1
2: 18. Dinoblue 7/2
3: 19. Global Citizen 12/1
4: 4. Third Time Lucki 8/1
5: 3. Final Orders 13/2
6: 9. Epson Du Houx 12/1

14:40 Here comes the Grand Annual

Our penultimate race on Wednesday is another nice, open handicap chase, the Grand Annual. We’ve a healthy spread of selections on the cheat sheet with Frank’s Before Midnight and Mick’s Elixir De Nutz both eye-catching prices.

Remember, you can watch these races on pp.com and Paddy’s paying SIX places on this race!

16:25 Double for Delta

16:20 Delta Work wins the Cross Country Chase!

It’s two Cross Country Chase triumphs in a row for Delta Work who fended off the brave challenge of Galvin over the last to put a couple of lengths between him and his nearest rival inside the final 1/2 furlong. It wasn’t quite as close as last year but a thrilling battle nonetheless. Franco De Port was the next, and a long way back, before the big-priced Lieutenant Rocco snuck into Paddy’s extra place.

RESULT

1: 4. Delta Work 11/10
2: 10. Galvin 11/4
3: 9. Franco De Port 9/2
4: 12. Lieutenant Rocco 100/1

16:00 Next up – The Cross Country Chase

I’ll never forgive him for what he did to our Tiger Roll last year but it’s looking difficult to go against he defending champion Delta Work over the funny fences in the Cross Country Chase. Galvin is the biggest threat in the market but the weather seems like it could play in to Delta Work’s hands.

15:40 Energumeneasy-peasy!

15:35 Energumene wins the Champion Chase!

Energumene takes the Champion Chase in easy style. In the end the market proved bang on as Edwardstone struggled to get into it at all, but it was some show from Paul Townend’s mount who left them standing to make it back to back wins in this race.

RESULT

1: 4. Energumene 6/5
2. 1. Captain Guinness 12/1

15:20 Just 10 mins until today’s feature race

Now for the big race of the day, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, and Energumene’s come powering back in the betting, displacing Edwardstone at the top of the market. Not a lot of love for the former on the Cheat Sheet with four votes for the latter but Frank’s put up Editeur Du Gite who who beat both of these two last time out.

15:10 Dan gets it done at last

15:00 Langer Dan wins the Coral Cup!

He’s finally done it! Langer Dan just gets up to pip Camprond and An Epic Song to take his first Cheltenham win in another sensational Festival finish. Camprond went earliest and just couldn’t cling on as An Epic Song first got past and then Langer Dan went round the outside to take victory for Dan Skelton’s team.

Jane’s three from three now!

RESULT

1: 14. Langer Dan 9/1
2: 21. An Epic Song 16/1
3: 18. Camprond 20/1
4: 4. Scaramanga 50/1
5: 15. Bold Endeavour 22/1

14:40 Coral Cup up next

After a couple of races with big favs it’s the wide-open Coral Cup in 10 minutes. HMS Seahorse has been steadily tumbling in to favouritism from 11/1 this morning. Jane Mangan’s two from two over on the Cheat Sheet and she’s on Run For Oscar and Langer Dan. You have been warned!

14:25 The Real Whacker Clings On

14:20 The Real Whacker wins the Brown Advisory!

What a run from The Real Whacker and Sam Twiston-Davies! They headed the pack with Bronn all the way and SP fav Gerri Colombe launched late on, falling agonisingly short on the line. A couple more strides and it would have been roles reversed but The Real Whacker took it by a nose from Gerri Colombe, Bronn and I Am Maximus.

RESULT

1: 8. The Real Whacker 8/1
2: 4. Gerri Colombe 5/4
3: 3. Bronn 50/1
4: 5. I Am Maximus 28/1

14:00 He stared right into his soul. Chilling stuff

13:55 Brown Advisory 15 minutes away

We’ve the second of our big gambles of the day going in the 14:10, Gordon Elliott’s Gerri Colombe. There’s a good mix of views on the Cheat Sheet, though, so it’s well worth a look. The Real Whacker is popular in the racing press but it looks like Sir Gerhard will be going off as second favourite.

13:45 Impressive Et Passe

13:35 Impaire Et Passe wins the Ballymore!

Hermes Allen was one of our market movers but he couldn’t stand the heat when Impaire Et Passe turned it on and powered up the hill, round the bend and off into the distance to win today’s opener in classy style. It’s a Mullins 1-2-3 with Gaelic Warrior and Champ Keily in the places.

‘Ye of little faith’ Ruby chuckles in the analysis. Hermes Allen actually went off as fav in the end.

RESULT

1: 7. Impaire Et Passe 5/2
2: 3. Gaelic Warrior 9/2
3: 2. Champ Kiely 13/2

13:25 Yeeehaaa dices with death… twice!

Matt’s a busy boy on the telly. First he uses some Hermes Allen chat as cover to ask Sir Alex Ferguson if he’d rather Arsenal or Manchester City win the Premier League and now he’s accused Rich Ricci of dressing like Paddington Bear.

People in glass houses…

Wednesday’s action is upon us!

13:20 10 minutes until the Ballymore

Willie Mullins’ yard are very bullish about Impaire Et Passe’s chances in Wednesday’s opener and Ruby’s all over him. Only Matt breaks cover over on the Cheat Sheet and he likes Good Land.

13:15 Hope springs eternal

Plenty of you backing Wednesday’s four short horses. Could be a painful day for Paddy if all goes to plan.

13:00 Wednesday’s Market Movers

Something to mull over as the rain falls in the Cotswolds…

13:30 Hermes Allen 5/2 from 4/1
14:10 Sir Gehard 10/3 from 11/2
14:50 HMS Seahorse 9/1 from 10/1
13:30 Energumene 11/8 from 15/8
16:10 Franco De Port 6/1 from 7/1
16:50 Dinoblue 5/1 from 6/1
17:30 Fun Fun Fun 13/2 from 7/1

Energumene has been the forgotten horse in the build-up with some people thinking his chance had gone after being beaten by Editeur Du Gite and Edwardstone in the Clarence House, but punters have really tanked into him and he has joined Edwardstone at the front of the market.

12:30 First, some Housekeeping

Good ol’ Paddy’s dishing out a Cheltenham free bet for you to use in any race you fancy today.

Wednesday’s action gets underway in less than an hour so get swotting up.

12:00 Good afternoon, Cheltenham!

Tuesday’s sunshine and beautiful blue skies have given way to gloomy clouds and we’re expecting more rain at Prestbury Park today.

We’ve seven more races to get stuck into starting with the Ballymore at 13:30. Today’s feature race is the Queen Mother Champion Chase at 15:30 before the gruelling 3m6f Cross Country Chase at 16:10.

Strap yourselves in!

17:45 Ready for more tomorrow?

That was fun, wasn’t it? We had thrills, spills, stunning victories and more than a few tears as Constitution Hill romped the Champion Hurdle and Honeysuckle signed off with her second Mares’ Hurdle triumph and 4th-stright win at Cheltenham.

It’ll be tough to top, but join us again tomorrow and we’ll have a good go, along with Paddy’s army of tipsters. Remember, Paddy’s dishing out another completely free bet to use on any race of your choosing on Wednesday. We’ve got all the fun of the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Cross Country Chase coming your way. The best bit is that tomorrow’s tips are already on PP News now so get swotting up!

17:40 Gaillard Du Mesnil finds a way

17:35 Gaillard Du Mesnil wins the National Hunt Challenge Cup!

It didn’t look like it for a lot of the way round but Gaillard Du Mesnil just got up to take the final race on Tuesday. It was a gruelling test as the rain started to pour on Prestbury Park and only four made it round. But, eventually, the winner overpowered Chemical Energy after the final fence to take the closer.

RESULT

1: 4. Gaillard Du Mesnil 10/11F
2: 1. Chemical Energy 8/1
3: 8. Mister Coffey 11/1

17:20 And then there was one…

It’s been an amazing opening day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival with Honeysuckle and Constitution Hill taking the headlines. But, before we stagger off into the night, there’s still the small matter of the National Hunt Challenge Cup to come in a few minutes. Gaillard Du Mesnil is unopposable according to all of Paddy’s pundits over on the Cheat Sheet!

17:10 And here’s that barn-storming finish

17:00 Jazzy Matty wins the Boodles!

A belting renewal of the Boodles saw plenty in the mix over the last but three broke clear and Gordon Elliott’s Jazzy Matty just got in between Byker and Risk Belle to give Michael O’Sullivan his second winner of the day. All three looked like three looked like they might go on at different stages but in the end they crossed in that order. Sundial, Mr Freedom and Metamorpheus chased them home for Paddy’s extra places.

RESULT

1: 10. Jazzy Matty 10/1
2: 5. Byker 6/1
3: 6. Risk Belle 10/1
4: 20. Sundial 18/1
5: 21. Mr Freedom 40/1
6: 11. Metamorpheus 22/1

16:40 The show must go on…

We’re only five races through the Festival and there’s two more to come today. Next up it’s the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle and Tekao looks set to go off as fav but Byker and Bad have been making market moves through out the last couple of days. Might be worth keeping an eye on Perseus Way as an each-way shout from Matt and Mick.

16:35 Thank you, Honeysuckle

16:30 From emotional scenes at the winning post

to wild celebrations in the winners’ enclosure!

16:20 Honeysuckle’s sweetest moment

16:15 Honeysuckle wins the Mares’ Hurdle!

What a performance from Honeysuckle and Rachel Blackmore! Love Envoi pushed hard but couldn’t hold on and the deadly duo roared home in the final 1/2 furlong to send the now 4x Cheltenham winner off into the sunset in style. Fairytale stuff! What a day we’ve had so far and there’s still two more races to come.

RESULT

1: Honeysuckle 9/4 JF
2: 5. Love Envoi 11/1
3: 8. Queens Rock 16/1

16:05 Here she is…

Not long to go now.

16:00 Next Up – Honeysuckle’s last dace

The great Honeysuckle goes one last time in this excellent renewal of The Mares’ Hurdle, but she’s not getting a lot of love from Paddy’s tipsters. This lot have been letting their heads rule their heart and Marie’s Rock is attracting plenty of attention.

There’s also some double-digit fancies for the 2023 Mares’ Hurdle on the legendary Cheat Sheet so it’s well worth a look with 10 minutes until the off.

15:45 It’s all about the fine margins…

15:35 Constitution Hill wins the Champion Hurdle!

Never in doubt. The shortest-ever priced winner of the Champion Hurdle went with three to go and just effortlessly extended away to take Tuesday’s feature race by 9 lengths. What a horse Constitution Hill is. State Man followed him home but never threatened.

RESULT

1: 1 Constitution Hill 4/11F
2: 5. State Man 7/2
3: 7. Zanahiyr 66/1

15:25 It doesn’t get any better than this

Just five minutes to go until the Champion Hurdle and Cheltenham’s in glorious form today.

Cheltenham Festival 2023

15:20 Champion Hurdle 10 minutes away

Can anyone or anything stop Constitution Hill? Nicky Henderson’s charge is going for a six timer in today’s feature race, The Champion Hurdle, and the biggest challenge is expected to come from State Man.

The big odds-on fav is expected to take the conditions well – the sun continues to shine on the Cotswolds but it remains a little tacky underfoot. Everyone’s gone for Constitution Hill on the Cheat Sheet but Frank’s put up I Like To Move It in the betting without market if you fancy something a little different.

15:15 The GOAT on the Fox

15:10 The Rambler heads for home

15:00 Corach Rambler wins the Ultima again!

We were treated to a cracking conclusion to the Ultima Festival Handicap Chase as Corach Rambler held off a late surge from Fastorslow to cling on for back-to-back triumphs in this race.

It means that Scotland are off the mark but the wait for the English goes on! Paddy’s paying all the way down to 6th in this one.

RESULT

1: 10. Croach Rambler 6/1JF
2: 6. Fastorslow 7/1
3: 15. Monbeg Genius 6/1JF
4: 7. The Goffer 7/1
5: 17. Oscar Elite 8/1
6: 8. Tea Clipper 33/1

14:40 Festival Handicap Chase up next

We’ve a wide-open Ultima in 10 minutes but it’s well worth noting that Ruby and Mick like one at a big price and that’s Fanion D’estruval. Jane is very keen on Fastorslow at a shorter price. Here’s the Cheat Sheet if you want to swot up.

14:35 El Fabiolo romps home

14:30 In happier news

They say it’s the most dangerous lead. Not at Cheltenham for the Irish it isn’t.

14:25 Yet another rare miss from Paddy….

14:20 Paul Townend’s off the mark for the week

14:15 El Fabiolo wins the Arkle!

El Fabiolo powered home to turn the tables on Jonbon after Dystart Dynamo set the pace as expected. It’s another Irish winner, two from two. Jonbon was second from Saint Roi and Straw Fan Jack.

RESULT

1: 3. El Fabiolo 11/10F
2: 6. Jonbon 2/1
3: 7. Saint Roi 11/1

14:05 Ruby Ruminates on Sullivan’s Supreme ride

14:00 Arkle contenders

It’s Arkle time next where Jonbon and El Fabiolo are battling it out for supremacy at the top of the market. Mick, Jane and Matt are on the former while Frank Hickey fancies Dystart Dynamo as an each-way play.

13:55 Hold Your Horses

Here’s that lesser-spotted double roar. Arkle preview coming up shortly.

13:50 That final fence

13:45 Total Domination

Arkle coming up shortly but the first 8 home in the opener all came from the Emerald Isle…

13:35 Marine Nationale wins the Supreme Novices’

Facile Vega was in a lovely position and hit the front two out before stumbling over the last. Marine Nationale was there to take advantage and power home in front of the fav and Diverge in 3rd for an all-Irish podium.

This is what it means for the winning jockey Michael O’Sullivan… there’s tears in his eyes and he’s choking up as he chats to Matt after the race. We told Yeeehaaa to pack his mouthwash. Does he ever listen?

RESULT

1: 10. Marine Nationale 9/2
2: 5. Facile Vega 9/4F
3: 3. Diverge 25/1
4: 9. Inthepocket 9/1

13:30 And we’re off

Slight false start with the roar there. Can Facile Vega bounce back? We’re about to find out…

17:30 National Hunt Challenge Cup

It’s all eyes on Gaillard Du Mesnil in the last and you’re hard-pressed to find anyone willing to oppose him, though David Jennings did highlight Chemical Energy on Paddy’s preview show.
