The Cheltenham Festival 2023 is now less than two weeks away and we’ve got top pundit Rory Delargy on board with us every week to hopefully get you more bang for your buck.
The Foxhunters Chase, which is also going by the St James’ Place Festival Chase, goes over the same distance as the Gold Cup and is for amateur jockeys only.
It’s the fifth race on Day 4 of this year’s Cheltenham Festival, and Rory has been looking at the markets to hopefully find you a winner.
David Christie’s Vaucelet heads the market but is he too short and worth taking on?
It looks like David Christie is only going to send over Vaucelet. Any one of the three that he has would be favourite so Vaucelet is rightly at the top of the betting.
He should have beaten Billaway last year and he’s won three in a row since then, however, he could have been beaten by Dorking Cock at Down Royal over Christmas. Vaucelet didn’t look like winning that until the line so that would be the only concern about him and he’s a short price.
I’m going to go with an outsider who’s just qualified for this race in Le Malin. He’s on course for the race and he recently won a point to point at Lisronagh.
He got very close to Billaway and Winged Leader in races this year. He’s very lightly raced and he’s been a great horse in France. His form reads well so he hasn’t got a lot to find against his rivals. He’s a pretty big price and he’s very interesting.
*Paddy’s gone Non Runner Money Back on all races at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. That means if you back any horse in any race antepost and they don’t show up where you want them to for whatever reason you’ll get a full refund on your wager
