The Cheltenham Festival 2023 is now less than two weeks away and we’ve got top trader Frank Hickey on board with us to hopefully get you more bang for your buck.
The Foxhunters Chase, which is also going by the St James’ Place Festival Chase, goes over the same distance as the Gold Cup and is for amateur jockeys only.
It’s the fifth race on Day 4 of this year’s Cheltenham Festival, and Frank has been looking at the markets to hopefully find you a winner.
David Christie’s Vaucelet heads the market but is he too short and worth taking on?
Vaucelet is very talented but he’s not as far ahead as the betting is suggested. He should have beaten Billaway last year as he was the better horse on the day. He has a strong chance but I’m not sure I can get behind him at the odds.
Billaway won this last year and he has a chance but I’m not sure he’s getting any better. If Vaucelet, Ferns Lock or Winged Leader turn up at their best, I’d be surprised to see Billaway win.
Ferns Lock being entered is an interesting one and he beat Billaway senseless last time out and he won by 20 lengths at Thurles in January. Has trainer David Christie left him in because there’s a doubt over stabelmate Vaucelet?
Who knows… but it’s an interesting one.
If Ferns Lock turns up, he wins. I’m all over him. If he doesn’t run, I’d probably side with Le Malin.
