RORY DELARGY:
“I don’t think Mrs Milner is a true three-miler even though she won the Pertemps Final last year. It was a bit of a sprint finish as the horses leading them into the straight that day were real plodders. It was a turn of foot that won her that race. She travelled really strong and put it to bed. She hasn’t looked a thorough stayer in her other runs at three miles, however. She’ll be suited by the shorter trip but there’s a question mark whether two miles four furlongs on the Old Course will be ideal.
“Indefatigable was fourth in the race last year and has plenty of Cheltenham form. She ran an unusually moody race in the Long Distance Hurdle behind Mrs Milner two starts ago – she didn’t want to line up, take off and was never in contention. She’s normally reliable and bounced back to form when just beaten by Martello Sky, and that pair are worth considering as that was a pretty strong handicap. Indefatigable was giving 5lb to Martello Sky, who went on to win a Listed race at Sandown since but that wasn’t a particularly strong contest as Gauloise bombed out and not many of them were happy on the ground.
“Martello Sky and Indefatigable are mid-140s horses and if you’re looking for an each-way punt you could do worse than those but you get the impression there’ll be something that will beat them.

“Burning Victory would be high on my shortlist but Telmesomethinggirl’s price is skinny enough for me and while Royal Kahala has more long-term potential I wouldn’t fancy her in the conditions.
“Elle Est Belle‘s more likely to run in the novice contest but Dan Skelton’s got two in there who look high class so he might be tempted to switch one of them here. She’s in the Betfair Hurdle and it looked like he had half an eye on her handicap mark on her previous run.
“Echoes In Rain is a big price for a mare who’s not going to be running in the Champion Hurdle. If Willie sends her elsewhere this must be a potential target and the price is an overreaction to the fact she hasn’t quite come up to scratch in the open division.”
