14:30 Briefly

Preference in this three-runner affair is for BRIEFLY, who ran a cracker on her reappearance/handicap debut when runner-up to subsequent winner Badbury Rings over course and distance last month.

Anthony Honeyball’s five-year-old can go one better at the expense of Larchmont Lass who was let down by her jumping on both starts in December but should find this assignment easier. Bethpage has had a wind operation since last seen and needs to get back on track.

15:00 Mr Mackay

MR MACKAY has been performing with credit for Nigel Twiston-Davies all season, and although he’s yet to prove his stamina for this trip, it may well be within his reach on drying ground in a small field.

He’s taken to land this contest from a career-low handicap mark, with the consistent and versatile Shengai Enki next best. George Henry is an interesting contender over this longer trip on his handicap debut, while Rascal has claims on last season’s form, but arguably has the most to prove of the quartet.

15:30 Zaochen Enki

Paul Nicholls’ ex-French four-year-old ZAOCHEN ENKI should prove very hard to beat against older rivals in this maiden hurdle on his British debut.

He was runner-up in a juvenile hurdle last summer for Arnaud Chaille-Chaille and, therefore, open to improvement. The front-running Disguisedlimit looks the obvious one to follow him home, having been placed in all three similar events he’s contested, including when he was third to the selection’s stablemate Fasol at Taunton last time.

16:00 Space Voyage

SPACE VOYAGE has taken very well to fences for Olly Murphy this calendar year, winning two of her three starts, and she looks capable of defying a penalty given how much she had in hand when winning by 15 lengths at Market Rasen last week in a change of headgear.

It shouldn’t be long before Moviddy breaks her duck over fences, having been placed on her last three starts, but she may find a progressive rival too strong once again.

16:30 Somespring Special

Just the four runners but not the easiest race to assess, and it could be worth siding with the returning SOMESPRING SPECIAL to capitalise on a handy mark now starting out with the in-form Philip Hobbs and Johnson White team.

She’s been off since last summer but has a good record at this time of year.  Jaramillo rates the pick of the rest if, as expected, he can build on an encouraging chasing debut when third at Southwell in December.

17:00 Gorcombe Moonshine

In a modest event, Robert Walford’s winning chaser, GORCOMBE MOONSHINE, may well be suited by stepping up in trip, and he can bounce back from a rare disappointing effort here last time to record his first success over hurdles.

Flat winner Breccia is lightly raced over hurdles and wouldn’t need to improve much to take a hand in the finish, while Mach Ten was third at Taunton last time and could well have more to offer now fitted with a first-time visor.
