14:10 – Admiral Stewart
This isn’t a strong race on paper and it looks an excellent opportunity for ADMIRAL STEWART to record a second win over hurdles. He was strong in the betting but was a little outpaced on his return from seven weeks off at Ayr last time, but he was beaten only by a promising sort who has boosted the form since, and this extra furlong is sure to be in his favour. Bel Amigo and Supreme George look the obvious dangers.
14:45 – Tommy Combats
TOMMY COMBATS couldn’t live with a very progressive sort at Ayr last time but it was another solid effort from Martin Todhunter’s six-year-old and he can come good tackling largely much more exposed opponents this time. One who is relatively lightly raced, at least over fences, is Raffles Wonder, and he’s second choice ahead of recent Sedgefield scorer Fearless Action.
15:20 – Red Happy
This isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest, and it could go the way of hat-trick seeking RED HAPPY, who showed a really good attitude when scoring over this course and distance a fortnight ago. A subsequent 3 lb rise shouldn’t bother him (rated much higher in the past) and he looks the one to side with. Busty Boy is feared most on the back of a resurgent Ayr second, although Emotional Roller, Catch Catchfire and One More Stroke also need factoring in.

15:55 – Yealand
Another race which isn’t the strongest for the grade and improving novice YEALAND looks the way to go. He recorded a second success over fences at Newcastle last month, displaying a terrific attitude as he stayed on the lead in the dying strides. He had a walk over last time and still looks attractively weighted from a mark of 119. High Moon remains of interest off his current mark so is next best ahead of the veteran Half Shot, who shaped much better than the bare result at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day.
16:30 – Dubai Days
Having ended last season in fine fettle, DUBAI DAYS picked up where he left off and showed a willing attitude in the process when making a winning return to action at Haydock five weeks ago. He looks a sound player again for the stable that took this 12 months ago, despite some reservations about the trip. Credo and Does He Know rate next best.
17:05 – Simply Red
Having been well backed when finishing a close third behind two class-droppers last time, SIMPLY RED can gain her first win for Brian Ellison in an ordinary looking 0-100 handicap. If ready to roll after a 4-month absence, Trafalgar Square has shown enough to suggest he’s capable of winning a race of this nature, while Follow Charlie is respected following a creditable third over a longer trip earlier this month.
