13:15 Kelso –Dare To Shout
The stable hasn’t had a winner in a month or so, but three of the last five or six runners have finished second so you can’t say the yard is out of form. The Hamilton’s have only a small team and while DARE TO SHOUT has plenty of runner-up finishes, he’s consistent, in good form and deserves to be favourite.
13:35 Bangor – Homme Public (each-way)
Nusret is towards the head of the market but his chance may be diminished with any rain that falls. My preference is for HOMME PUBLIC, each-way, especially with claimer Toby Wynne taking another 3lb off his back.
13:50 Kelso – Wyenot
A 3m mares’ hurdle where WYENOT should be winning, given her form and rating in this contest. She’ll be short enough in the market, and while I can’t find anything that may beat her, I’d be concerned that she might sulk if taken on for the lead and isn’t able to dictate the fractions up front.
14:05 Newbury – Calimystic
There’s rain forecast at Newbury so it’s a guessing game at the moment to see who it will suit or who it will hinder.
CALIMYSTIC is versatile, though, as he handles all types of going. His mark of 118 still has a bit of wriggle room in it after his win at Doncaster last time, and Newbury is a similar sort of test. He’s the one for me.
14:25 Kelso – I Am Max
The 2m 5f Series Final is full of horses who are all very exposed.
There’s no shame in that, as it’ll make for a competitive contest, but one who may have a little improvement still to come is I AM MAX. He was narrowly beaten at Haydock in a photo finish by Solar System last time, and a reproduction of that run should see him go close in a contest his trainer Sandy Thomson will have targeted, as he has a good record at Kelso.
14:40 Newbury – Theatre Man
Trainer Richard Bandey has struggled this season but the stable from has started to come good recently. His THEATRE MAN has had a wind operation, will like the ground and isn’t badly handicapped. With the yard back in form he can spring a surprise.
15:00 Kelso – Game Colours
Two that caught my eye are Game Colours and Tour Ovalie. The latter ran a solid race at the Cheltenham Festival last week when ninth to Air Of Entitlement, but that may have taken the edge off her. I’ll stick with GAME COLOURS, which should handle the likely good to soft ground and should also have the stamina to see the others off.
15:15 Newbury – La Pinsonniere
Nicky Henderson has popped some cheekpieces on LA PINSONNIERE for this novice handicap hurdle and she’s dropped a little in the ratings also, despite three consistent runs this season.
She gets in quite nicely and has a little swing in the weights with Jasmine Bliss, and they may just help her to reverse the form.
15:35 Kelso – Bollingerandkrug
The final race on ITV, where BOLLINGERANDKRUG was well-backed last time when fifth at this venue earlier this month after a winter break. He looked a little sluggish that day, but trainer Lucinda Russell has her string in good form, and that could rub off on this 10-year-old now.
