16:45 – Beauty Queen (NAP)
I’m going with Beauty Queen, who we’ve only seen once at Dundalk. It was a really good effort last week given she was quite keen over the 6f trip. Under the circumstances it was a good run given her best form previously is over 5f. It’s over 5f on Friday and she blitzed the field when she won at Southwell last year. A strong gallop will suit and she’s got a good draw in stall one. Going round the bend will help too. She handles the polytrack as we saw at Southwell.
17:15 – Amemri
Amemri tops the weights after winning her last three and she’s looking for a sixth course win. She’s on a real roll and she stayed on strongly to win again at Dundalk earlier this month. The form is solid enough too. She’s a hold-up filly and she should have at least two frontrunners to aim at. The race should shape up to suit her and her mark of 65 is still workable.
17:45 – Currawood
Currawood’s three runs last year have all worked out really well. He ran behind Hazdann on his debut on Irish Derby weekend and that was one of the strongest maidens we had on show. He was also second behind The Lion In Winter at the Curragh and then second to Antelope Canyon last September. All of the other runners will have to run to a good level if they are to have any chance of beating Currawood. He should win.
18:15 – In The Minus
This is a cracking handicap. In The Minus was a market springer last week when finishing fifth at Dundalk for Sean Davis. He shaped like a non-stayer and he didn’t quite get home. He will improve from that experience and the drop back in trip to 7f will be ideal. He looks well handicapped and I’ll side with the unexposed runner In The Minus.
18:45 – Shoot To Kill
Stephen Thorne has three winners last week and he’s got Shoot To Kill in here. He’s set up to get another success for the team. He’ll get a strong gallop to aim at with a couple of frontrunners. Stall one will suit him very well and he’s run some very good races over 7f. He’s got the best recent form and he should go close.
19:15 – Finsceal Annie
The make up of the race should suit Finsceal Annie. The frontrunners will take each other on which will give Ciaran Murphy’s runner something to aim at. She should be at her best after her seasonal debut at Dundalk a couple of weeks ago. She looked in need of that run and the only slight issue I have is that cheekpieces aren’t on this time, but I’ll still keep Finsceal Annie on side.
19:45 – Sacred Oath
Sacred Oath is the most interesting runner after winning over course and distance in January over 1m 2f. She can reverse the form with Genoah after finishing second behind him at Dundalk last year. This could be a stepping stone back to the grass for Sacred Oath.
20:15 – Nusra (each-way)
Nusra is a course and distance winner and this could be the third time in a row I’ve tipped her! She hasn’t finished outside the top three on her last three runs but she’s a solid each-way option. Her last run was a cracking effort and dropping back into this 0-64 handicap should utilise her stamina.
