14:00 – County Handicap Hurdle – Mclaurey
MCLAUREY arrives here after back-to-back successes at Limerick and Leopardstown. He was raised a huge 16lb by the handicapper after an impressive handicap hurdle win last time out, but he will still carry a manageable 10st 12lb here.
Four of the last five winners of this event have carried less than 11 stone, so he fits the bill in that sense.
Mclaurey is lightly raced and retains plenty of scope for improvement.
He’s been within the first three home in all of his last four runs (form figures of 1, 1, 3, 2) and holds plenty of appeal again in this race. He’s still improving and won’t be far away at the finish.
14:40 – Mares’ Chase – Limerick Lace
LIMERICK LACE has some very strong form going back to last season. In this race last year, she saw off the two current market leaders, Dinoblue and Allegorie De Vassy.
Her form has dipped since then, and she was a distant second to Allegorie De Vassy at Fairyhouse last time out.
She does have a Cheltenham Festival win under her belt. Returning to this course could spark some improvement; notably, she will also be wearing first-time cheekpieces, which should bring about some improvement.
There are plenty of weaker horses than her in this race and she looks worth an each-way play.

15:20 – Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – Derryhassen Paddy
DERRYHASSEN PADDY remains undefeated after three career starts after wins at Windsor, Uttoxeter and Ayr. He showed plenty of grit to get up in a close finish last time and looks like the sort that will relish this 2m7f test of stamina.
He remains unexposed and has already shown his versatility by winning his races over 2m, 2m4f, and 3m. Lucinda Russell notched a Festival winner on Tuesday in the form of Myretown.
The yard is on the up, and Derryhassen Paddy could provide them with even more to cheer about here.
17: 20 – Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle – Taponthego
TAPONTHEGO steps back up to 2m4f here following two below-par runs over 2m, prior to those runs, he was 2nd of 12 over today’s trip at Leopardstown and won over the same distance in a 20-runner Maiden Hurdle at Tipperary.
There looks likely to be a strong pace to aim at here, which will suit Taponthego, as shown in his previous races over this distance. A return to the trip should see him retain his progression.
With five places available here, he looks likely to be involved at the finish and can resume his progress with a positive run.
