13:27 Matwana
MATWANA has taken really well to hurdles, opening her account at Doncaster in December and losing little in defeat in a listed event back at that track last time, giving it a good shot from the front. This is a much easier race and looks an excellent opportunity for her to quickly resume winning ways. Small Town Kid fluffed his lines at Kelso last time, but has since had a wind op, and appeals as the one to chase home Harry Derham’s filly ahead of Double Digits.
14:02 Electric Jet
This stiffer track promises to suit ELECTRIC JET, who bettered what he showed over hurdles (on his debut in this sphere) when finding just one too good at Ludlow last month. He is likely capable of better, and that race returned a good time figure, so he earns the vote from just 2lb higher in this trappy contest, in which all four have claims. If Willie Shake Hands takes to this discipline at the first attempt he could be a bigger threat than experienced chasers Hold Onto The Line and Jet of Dreams.
14:37 Knacker Trapper
KNACKER TRAPPER opened his account over hurdles at Southwell impressively by 31 lengths in May last year and has plenty of creditable efforts to his name since. His form has dropped off recently, but his mark is tumbling as a result, so he’s worth chancing in a race which is devoid of a standout contender. Last-time-out winners Luminaries and Rioja Alta are the main dangers.

15:12 Cerendipity
A contest that is unlikely to take much winning. and CERENDIPITY, who arrives in some form at least, could be the one to focus on. He had another breathing operation since his latest run at Uttoxeter last month, which should help him see his race out better, and the return to better ground should also help. Stable-switcher Bowmore is taken to edge out Special Rate for the forecast spot.
15:47 Givemefive
An ordinary race for the grade and none of the quartet look rock-solid. However, having successfully made the running as a novice, connections of GIVEMEFIVE may opt to employ those tactics again and that could give him an edge in a small field. If he can return to anything like his early season form, he should take the beating in a first-time tongue tie. Ballygeary is fairly handicapped if he can bounce back from an underwhelming effort last time, with course-winner Pay The Piper next best.
16:22 Jamesieconn
JAMESIECONN didn’t show much in three relatively quick starts over hurdles, but he was much improved when gambled on to make a successful debut over fences, switched to handicaps at Doncaster last month. The time figure was good for the grade and there is more to come from him. Hawkseye View and Halfway House Lad could be the dangers.
16:57 Japetus
JAPETUS is bred to be sharp – he’s a half-brother to a 6f winner – but he clearly stayed 2m when runner-up at Kelso last month and we’re likely to know more with his debut under his belt (showed signs of inexperience in the paddock). He’s taken to go one place better in what doesn’t look the strongest race of its type. Hunters Spring has already won a bumper (albeit a weak one) and is the obvious threat unless there’s confidence behind newcomer Daytona Sky.
