16:03 Southwell – Khangai
Khangai has only been given a gentle nudge in the handicap by the assessor and he looks a perfect opportunity for his young rider Mason Paetel to get the ball rolling for his new boss having recently switched across to the James Owen stable. He’s looking for win number three at this venue.
17:13 Southwell – Viennoise
Viennoise may well have needed her return at Lingfield last month having been off since July and she was also debuting for the David O’Meara stable. She was picked up cheaply for 5000 guineas at the horses in training sale and she may well prove a decent buy. She’s up in distance which looks within her compass and she may have a bit of wiggle room on a mark of just 78.
17:30 Wolverhampton – Plage De Havre
Plage De Havre looked really good when winning last time at Newcastle by a comfortable 4 1/2 lengths and the assessor has given him a 9lb hike. The hope is that he settles better than he did last time. He’s going up an extra couple of furlongs and it certainly looks like he’s making up into a very decent handicapper.
18:15 Southwell – Good Banter
Last season Good Banter had strapped together two good victories over 6f at Wolverhampton yet was mightily disappointing over that distance on his return when going off a strong favourite. He was never any closer than right on top of the line and surely the extra 220 yards is going to be bang up his street.
20:00 Wolverhampton – Bay of Dreams
Bay of Dreams remains in Class 6 company after what was an incredibly smooth victory over a mile at Newcastle just five days ago. She’s open to any amount of improvement and given her pedigree, she looks as if the extra yardage is going to prove a help rather than a hindrance. It can continue a purple patch for the rider Saffie Osborne.
20:30 Wolverhampton – Cosmic View
Cosmic View had dropped a long way in the handicap prior to dipping his toe into classified company last time which saw him break his maiden at the 17th attempt. He remains in that grade after just a 3lb rise which seems very fair considering he was rated in the low 60s at one point.
