13:20 – Lulamba

Lulamba is smart and was an impressive winner at Ascot on debut. I can see him going down the Cheltenham Gold Cup route in years to come but for now he can start off his career in the big time by winning the Triumph Hurdle.

5/2
Lulamba Win or Each Way

14:00 – Absurde

It’s no surprise that Willie Mullins has a strong hand in the race with four declared as he and UK rival Dan Skelton have farmed this contest over the past few years. Absurde was a good winner last year and I fancy him to do the same again. Drying ground will not be a problem and connections have spoken about him as Melbourne Cup type, that’s the sort of class he has. Won a Listed race on the Flat at Chester when last seen.

9/2
Absurde Win or Each Way

14:40 – Dinoblue

Paddy reckons the Mrs Paddy Power Mares Chase is the most important race on the card but I’ve got news for him later. It’s hard to look past Dinoblue though for Willie Mullins, JP McManus and Mark Walsh.

5/4
Dinoblue Win or Each Way

15:20 – Jet Blue (each-way)

The Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle frequently throws up a surprise or two, so I’ve no qualms in looking beyond the head of the market. The French raider Jet Blue was a good winner when proving he stayed 3m when winning the trial for this in December. He looks a solid each-way play to me in a wide-open contest.

11/2
Jet Blue Win or Each Way

16:00 – Galopin Des Champs

He’s going for a place in history and I believe that Galopin Des Champs will win his third consecutive Gold Cup to join Best Mate, Arkle and Cottage Rake in the record books. Everything has gone well for him this season and he looks as sound as ever. The King George VI winner Banbridge looks his biggest danger and while ground conditions should suit him, he still has to get past Galopin Des Champs up Cleeve Hill.

8/15
Galopin Des Champs Win or Each Way

16:40 – Allmankind

The ground will be key to how this Hunters Chase unfolds. The drier the ground the better the chance of Allmankind, who used to be trained by Dan Skelton and was a very smart novice chaser. He will be suited by better ground, more so than Angels Dawn or Its On The Line.

33/1
Allmankind Win or Each Way

17:20 – East India Express

We sign off for Cheltenham 2025 with the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle over 2m 4f for conditional jockeys. East India Express will love better ground and with Freddie Gordon riding for his own stable, he can claim 3lbs. That’s a big help as he’s an experienced rider and had already ridden him to win his last two races.

7/1
East India Express Win or Each Way
