16:50 – Eva Rosie

Stella Barclay’s EVA ROSIE was suited by the step back up to a mile and a quarter when opening her account over course and distance on her penultimate start and, having not been ideally placed in a handicap at Southwell last time, she’s taken to resume winning ways back in classified stakes. Dee’s Dream has run well in this grade on her last couple of outings and could be thereabouts once more, with maiden Rampant also considered.

17:30 – Ana Emaraaty

Having won twice at this course last year, ANA EMARAATY took a step back in the right direction when fourth to Time Patrol in a handicap here on his latest outing – despite having been denied a clear run – so he could be ready to return to winning ways for Jim Goldie at this much longer trip. Yakhabar promises to be suited by the step back up in distance after finishing fourth over a mile here earlier in the week, and is feared most, ahead of Spartan Times.

18:00 – Frankies Dream

The thriving FRANKIES DREAM wasn’t seen to best effect when fifth after getting caught wide in a steadily-run race at Lingfield last time and is worth another chance. He’s already won three times this year for Jennie Candlish, with his latest success coming at this track last month. She Went Whoosh, who was a good second at Wolverhampton last time, and Cemlyn, placed on all three starts this year, are others to consider.

18:30 – Moby Quick

George Scott’s MOBY QUICK was a close third to Lovesick in a similar event at Wolverhampton last time despite racing wider than ideal and he sets the standard in this maiden. Juddmonte gelding Papa Oscar was a major disappointment at Kempton on debut for Harry Charlton, having been all the rage in the betting, but is evidently thought capable of better and should have learned plenty from that run after appearing very green.

19:00 – Mr Baloo

MR BALOO is in a good vein of form at present for Richard Hannon, finishing a creditable third at Kempton last time, and is taken to resume winning ways having been successful at Southwell two starts back. So Quiet rates an obvious danger on the back of a recent Southwell second, while Brazilian Rose found a Lingfield Class 2 handicap too much last time – but can show she’s still in form at a track where she ran up a hat-trick at the start of the year.

19:30 – Castan

A further 2lb nudge from the handicapper after his half-length beating of Maharajas Express over course and distance last time doesn’t look enough to prevent Bryan Smart’s 5f specialist CASTAN from making it four in a row since being fitted with cheekpieces. Monks Dream has been second here on his last couple of starts, while King’s Crown was another course-and-distance winner last time and they can give the selection most to do.

20:00 – William Dewhirst

WILLIAM DEWHIRST boasts a superb course record for Ben Haslam, with the latest of his six wins at Newcastle since November coming last month. Having posted another sound effort when third under a penalty over 7f last week, he could be the answer from 3lb lower and back sprinting. Mondammej is no stranger to success here either, and back on his last successful mark, so he commands respect, along with Pals Battalion who was runner-up to the selection on his last start.

20:30 – Odd Socks Havana

Having dropped below his last winning mark, Rebecca Menzies’ ODD SOCKS HAVANA turned in another solid Newcastle effort when a neck second to Pallas Lord a week ago and he looks ready to strike. Just Typical gained his latest win here last month, but had no cover from a wide draw at Wolverhampton last time so he can bounce back, with Mr Jetman one to monitor after another change of stables.
