Matt Chapman’s Cheltenham Day Four tips

13:20 Lulamba
14:00 Absurde
14:40 Allegorie De Vassy
15:20 Jet Blue (Each-Way)
16:00 Galopin Des Champs
16:40 Its On The Line
17:20 No Ordinary Joe (Each-Way)

13:20 Lulamba

The final day of Cheltenham 2025 gets underway with the Grade 1 JCB Triumph Hurdle over 2m1f. East India Dock brings in the Flat experience, but LULAMBA might just be in a different league for Nicky Henderson. The French import looked top class on British debut at Ascot and can go on to much better things. Although the Ascot runner-up Mondo Man was beaten subsequently at Kempton his effort suggests the form is decent enough.

2/1
Lulamba Win or Each Way

14:00 Absurde

The County Handicap Hurdle over 2m1f. ABSURDE will have been laid out for this after scoring last year and has the ability to repeat the dose off 8lb higher in the handicap. The better ground should suit him more this time, and for that reason, he might just outclass the field for Willie Mullins.

11/2
Absurde Win or Each Way

14:40 Allegorie De Vassy

Here’s the beautiful Grade 2 Mrs Paddy Power Mares’ Chase over an extended 2m4f. Getting 5lb, I’ll stick with ALLEGORIE DE VASSY for Mullins. Beaten by the re-opposing Dinoblue at Naas last time, she is actually worse off here, but I felt the small field didn’t suit and a stronger gallop here will be right up her street.

10/3
Allegorie De Vassy Win or Each Way

15:20 Jet Blue (Each-Way)

Another Grade 1 in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle over 3m. JET BLUE has a little to find on some of these, but the French raider was really impressive at the track last time, and I think he’ll be hard to keep out of the frame for the Cottin yard and James Reveley. Stamina is his strong suit and some of these might just struggle to get home. A few quid each-way.

6/1
Jet Blue Win or Each Way

16:00 Galopin Des Champs

The big race of the week in the Grade 1 Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup over an extended 3m2f. Last year’s Gold Cup had strength in depth and GALOPIN DES CHAMPS still won well, so in a lesser renewal, he should be a good thing barring accidents. Stamina is his forte and he should simply outstay the field with his class and ability. Another for Mullins and Paul Townend.

4/7
Galopin Des Champs Win or Each Way

16:40 Its On The Line

Hunter Chase time now in the St James’s Place Festival Challenge Cup over an extended 3m2f. ITS ON THE LINE was second in this last year to Sine Nomine and I’d be hopeful he can go one better this time around for Emmet Mullins. Probably needs to time his winning run just right as he’s a bit of a thinker, finished second in 2023, and he likes this place and deserves to win the big one.

11/2
Its On The Line Win or Each Way

17:20 No Ordinary Joe (Each-Way)

Cheltenham 2025 comes to a close with the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m4f. NO ORDINARY JOE was second to Iroko in this in 2023, off a mark of 139, and he gets in this time off 138. He’s not an easy horse to predict, but has each-way claims for Henderson with Freddie Gingell on top. That’s it people. Cheltenham 2025 done and dusted.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?

12/1
No Ordinary Joe Win or Each Way
