14:00 Brown Advisory Novices Chase – Dancing City
DANCING CITY looks like a big threat to his stablemate and current market leader, Ballyburn, in the second race on Wednesday. He has won both of his races over hurdles, jumps very efficiently, and has plenty of stamina.
He’d like a strong pace to go after here as he stays all day. He could even take this race from the front to ensure the pace is honest.
Dancing City was 3rd in last year’s Albert Bartlett at the Festival and has three Grade One victories to his name. He possesses all of the talent and knowhow to win here and looks overpriced in the market currently.
14:40 Coral Cup – Beat The Bat
The improving BEAT THE BAT steps up in trip here, which should suit the Harry Fry-trained seven-year-old. His jumping over shorter distances hasn’t always been fluent, but this extended trip should mean a slower pace, which should bring about some improvement over obstacles.
He arrives here after two respectable efforts over a brace of two-mile hurdle races and finishing just three lengths behind Steel Ally, who is now rated 144, meaning that Beat The Bat’s rating of 133 could be underestimating the talented gelding. If the extra 5f helps his jumping, he could be in and amongst it at the finish.

16:00 Champion Chase – Marine Nationale
MARINE NATIONALE arrives at the Festival in good order following three good runs of late despite not winning any of them (form figures of 2, 3, 2).
He showed his talent when taking the 2023 Supreme Novices Hurdle at the Festival, and while he hasn’t kicked on as many thought he would, he remains a high-class horse and a major threat to Jonbon.
He looks set to enjoy the quick surface and demonstrated his staying powers last time out at Leopardstown when going close to reeling in the runaway leader Solness on that day. The potential quick pace of this race could play into Marine Nationale’s hands.
16:40 Grand Annual – JPR One
JPR ONE began the season with an impressive win at Exeter before finishing third behind Jonbon and a disappointing last run at Newbury. But he’s a classy type, and he can bounce back here.
He’s the top-rated horse in this Grand Annual line-up, racing off an official mark of 156, and would have won at Cheltenham in late 2023 if not for unseating the rider in the latter stages of the race. He holds plenty of appeal here and offers plenty of value at his current price.
