Cheltenham NAPS: 14/1 shout leads our Traders’ Wednesday tips for Day Two of 2025 Festival

Ryan McCue is backing The Goffer to make an impact in the Cross Country.

Paddy’s expert traders are back for Day Two at Cheltenham with confidence high after three winning picks from the first day of action at Prestbury Park.

Patrick O’Flynn called KOPEK DES BORDES to cruise home in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle as Adam Killeen and Niall O’Reilly both backed HAITI COULEURS to win the final race of the day in the Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Check out their Wednesday picks to see how they fare on Day Two!

PADDY POWER TRADERS PICK THEIR WEDNESDAY TOP TIPS

13:20 – The New Lion (Niall O’Reilly)
14:40 – Beat The Bat (Joe Logue)
15:20 – The Goffer (Ryan McCue)
16:00 – Marine Nationale (Patrick O’Flynn)

13:20 – The New Lion (Niall O’Reilly)

THE NEW LION’S form may lack depth, but his win at Newbury left a strong impression. On the forecasted ground, I think he could prove too quick for some of his rivals. His jumping is exceptional – almost like that of a champion hurdler – which is a significant asset in this race. He’s a confident pick to secure Dan Skelton his first winner at the festival this year.

14:40 – Beat The Bat (Joe Logue)

BEAT THE BAT started out his career running over approx. two and a half miles before recently dropping back to two. He has been competitive in good handicap hurdles but is shaping like he needs a step up in trip. He gets that here and is fairly unexposed as a still improving 7yo.

Plenty of Extra Places on offer, and although it’s a very competitive race, I think he should be hitting the frame here and can hopefully get his head in front.

15:20 – The Goffer (Ryan McCue)

THE GOFFER looks to have been laid out for this and he gets in off a lovely low weight with top jockey Sean Bowen booked. He has a good festival record and the better ground from what he encountered last time at Punchestown is a big help. The fact he’s had a spin around these fences earlier in the season is another positive, and at a double figure price, he’s very much of interest.

16:00 – Marine Nationale (Patrick O’Flynn)

MARINE NATIONALE has improved in each of his three chase starts this season and looks to be still improving as a horse who is lightly raced over fences. The forecasted Good to Soft ground should really suit the 2023 Supreme winner – and at the prices – I fancy him to go very close.
