Cheltenham 1.20 tips: Tomorrow’s Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle bets and predictions from our experts

Golden Ace won this last year...

Mares' Novices' Hurdle

Paddy’s stable of top pundits and tipsters have run the rule over our Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle odds, but who are they backing in the opening race on day three of the Cheltenham Festival?

The girls kick things off and the Grade 2 looks like being an ultra-competitive contest as a maximum field of 24 runners go to post.

Willie Mullins is responsible for a stonking seven entries including Quevega’s daughter Aurora Vega and the highly-touted Maughreen.

The Irish contingent is further bolstered by Gavin Cromwell’s hat-trick seeker Sixandahalf and Joseph O’Brien fields Galileo Dame, who gets a stack of weight from her rivals as she is a juvenile.

British hopes are pinned on Paddy Power ambassador Harry Cobden’s mount, Jubilee Alpha.

Cheltenham Festival odds can be found on the Paddy Power website and Paddy Power app, otherwise, our experts’ tips for the first race on day two of the 2025 meeting are below.

Cheltenham 1.20 tips

Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

Matt Chapman

SIXANDAHALF should take some beating and while she lacks a load of hurdling runs she could just be far too good for this field.

5/2
Sixandahalf Win or Each Way

Harry Cobden

I’ll be riding JUBILEE ALPHA and she’s my best ride of the week. She jumped brilliantly in schooling and going left handed is perfect for her.

8/1
Jubilee Alpha Win or Each Way

Mick Fitzgerald

Gavin Cromwell’s SIXANDAHALF looks the most solid option and the one to beat.

5/2
Sixandahalf Win or Each Way

Patrick Mullins

MAUGHREEN has a huge engine and a lot of talent but it will be difficult to step into a 24-runner race on the back of just one hurdle run. I think she’ll run very well.

17/2
Maughreen Win or Each Way

Ruby Walsh

Paul Townend has gone for Aurora Vega over Maughreen, probably because she has more racing experience. I like AIR OF ENTITLEMENT each-way for Henry de Bromhead.

14/1
Air Of Entitlement Win or Each Way
