14:00 – Arkle Chase – Majborough

Big favourite MAJBOROUGH looks to have the beating of the field in the second race on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival. Since winning the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last year, he followed up with two comfortable wins since switching to fences. He is at least 6lb ahead on official ratings compared to his rivals and if running to his best, he could make a mockery of the field.

His quick cruising speed makes him a tough horse to reel in, it also allows him an error or two in his jumping. He’ll stay the trip no problem and has already proven he can cope with the Cheltenham hill.

8/15
Majborough Win or Each Way

14:40 – Ultima Handicap Chase – Famous Bridge

FAMOUS BRIDGE could spring a surprise in the Ultima on Day 1. Fresh after winning the Grand National Trial Handicap Chase last month – over a gruelling 3m4.5f – while also notably wearing cheekpieces for the first time, he looks set to be competitive here and could be much shorter closer to post time.

He retains cheekpieces and is in perhaps in the best form of his career, a 4lb rise from his recent victory may not be enough to stop him, he looks set to be involved at the finish at a course he has strong form at.

Famous Bridge Win or Each Way

16:00 – Champion Hurdle – Constitution Hill

The undefeated CONSTITUTION HILL will look to make it 11 wins from 11 runs here, he’s scared away Lossiemouth who initially looked set to take on the champion hurdler, as her camp have opted to run in the Mares Hurdle instead.

Constitution Hill has won on all three appearances at Cheltenham for Nicky Henderson and arrives here following two impressive wins this season. His only real threat looks to be the improving Brighterdaysahead, but despite her impressive performances of late, she still has 5lb to find on the pick and would need a career best performance to overturn the favourite.

8/13
Constitution Hill Win or Each Way

16:40 Juvenile Handicap Hurdle – Total Look

TOTAL LOOK has the stamina and grit to take the 2025 Fred Winter Handicap Hurdle on Day 1. Despite question marks over his jumping, the determination and stamina on display in his last run in third at Punchestown caught the eye. That run was made all the more impressive when taking into account he was found to be coughing after the race and had also lost a near fore shoe.

He’s showed plenty of promise and speed during his runs on the flat, and with cheekpieces set to be added here, he looks a big danger to the rest of the field.

Total Look Win or Each Way
