Cheltenham Tips: Patrick Mullins’ best Tuesday picks for day 1 of the 2025 Festival feature a 20/1 each-way shout

Patrick Mullins reckons Sequestered is the one to watch in the Ultima Handicap Chase at 14:40.

The 2025 Cheltenham Festival begins with a bang on Tuesday.

15-time champion amateur jockey Patrick Mullins is one of our newest recruits as a PP ambassador and he’s joined us to give us his top picks for Day One’s action on Tuesday.

You can check out Paddy’s full list of options across all markets on Cheltenham betting as the action gets underway.

Patrick Mullins’ Cheltenham Day One tips

13:20 Kopek des Bordes
14:00 Majborough
14:40 Sequestered (each-way)
15:20 Lossiemouth
16:00 Constitution Hill
16:40 Murcia
17:20 Transmission

13:20 Kopek des Bordes

We have put a hood on KOPEK DES BORDES in the hope that it will help him relax more. If he does, he should have a great chance of getting the week off to a flyer for us in the Michael O’Sullivan Supreme Novices Hurdle.

10/11
Kopek Des Bordes Win or Each Way

14:00 Majborough

We think MAJBOROUGH is a monster and would expect him to follow in the hoof steps of Un De Sceaux and Douvan in winning the Arkle Chase.

8/15
Majborough Win or Each Way

14:40 Sequestered (each-way)

The Ultima Handicap Chase is not a contest that has been kind to the Irish challengers through the years, but SEQUESTERED could run into the places at a nice price for trainer Paul Gilligan, who had Cheltenham success before. He’s been running consistently and has a nice weight.

16/1
Sequestered Win or Each Way

15:20 Lossiemouth

LOSSIEMOUTH had to go against the big boys and came up short both times, so she reverts to her own sex in the mares’ hurdle. She should be very hard to beat and should follow up on last year’s success.

8/13
Lossiemouth Win or Each Way

16:00 Constitution Hill

Until I see that the real CONSTITUTION HILL isn’t back in the room, I find it hard to see him beaten. He’s probably the outstanding hurdler of our times. If the real Constitution Hill turns up, he should be very difficult to beat. However, the reigning champ State Man is a silly price.

4/7
Constitution Hill Win or Each Way

16:40 Murcia

Murcia has plenty of weight in the Fred Winter but has run a couple of eye-catching races. With the queen of Cheltenham, Rachael Blackmore on board, we think she should go very close in what is traditionally a bit of a cavalry charge.

10/1
Murcia Win or Each Way

17:20 Transmission

I won on TRANSMISSION in November, he handles the track well and I ride at my lightest weight. The trip should suit him well and I’d expect him to go close for the in from Neill Mullholland yard.
