14:20 – Lightonthewing

On the back of an all-the-way hurdles success at Chepstow, LIGHTONTHEWING may well follow up now returned to the larger obstacles. He was successful over C&D on his sole previous chase start at this course last March and remains on a good mark (4 lb below his last win over fences). Lock Out has to be respected on the back of a good front-running effort at Hereford and he is second choice ahead of Celtic Fortune and I See The Sea. The last-named was sent off the 2/1 favourite two starts back at Exeter in a race won by subsequent Grade 3 (handicap) winner Katate Dori, but seemed to find the testing conditions too much after a bad mistake at the 10th fence. His earlier third to Poppa Poutine over C&D on better ground suggests that conditions here should be more in the favour of a horse who was second in an Irish point-to-point on yielding.

Lightonthewing Win or Each Way

14:50 – Miss Altea Blue

The class-dropping MISS ALTEA BLUE has a tongue strap refitted back from a break and is given another chance to get close to her French form, which would likely be more than good enough to come out on top here. She wasn’t knocked about when fifth on her British debut in listed company and this looks a more realistic level for a yard who won the race in 2020 and 2023. Despite shaping as if needing a stiffer test of stamina, Blacksamssenorita is second choice ahead of Somethingtosomeone and Morning Air who made a good impression when winning at Leicester back in December.

Miss Altea Blue Win or Each Way

15:20 – Siam Park

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ SIAM PARK is bred to make a better chaser and that already appears to be the case judged on his solid second on debut in this sphere at Taunton where he pulled nicely clear of the rest with the winner. He should prove a tough nut to crack with improvement on the cards, especially now dropping back slightly in trip. Talented front-runner Paddy In The Caddy is holding his form well and should give another good account now back in distance, while Centara needs to get back on track now switched to fences but it’s by no means impossible that he’ll do just that from what looks a feasible mark. Dunstall Rambler’s jumping has improved since the hood was removed and he is fully respected in his hat-trick bid, especially if they go a fast pace (travels well).

Siam Park Win or Each Way

15:50 – Regents Stroll

Though he will never live up to his £660,000 price tag, Challow Hurdle fourth REGENT’S STROLL has already shown himself to be a useful novice and can make the most of what looks a gold-plated opportunity. He is well clear on Timeform weight-adjusted-ratings and this good ground should ensure that the trip is no issue (as it shouldn’t be as he is from the family of Denman but he has been a little keen so far). Course winner The Sainted Canary should have more to offer now stepping up in trip and is open to further improvement, so he is preferred to relatively cheap newcomer The Italian Fox for the forecast spot.

1/9
Regents Stroll Win or Each Way

16:20 – Saladins Son

The Timeform pace prediction for this small-field handicap chase is ‘very weak’ and it looks likely that SALADINS SON should be able to get a relatively easy lead if able to see off the attentions of the prolific pointer Regatta De Blanc early on. He could be called the winner from some way out over C&D last month and, very much looking a young chaser to keep on side, Anthony Honeyball’s charge is strongly fancied to defy a 5 lb rise at the expense of Hudson De Grugy, who shaped as if back in form over a trip which seemed to stretch him at Lingfield just over five weeks ago. Sheldon, who is building up a solid record here, rounds off the shortlist; his recent C&D third was a more threatening one than that of Enjoy Your Life, for all the last-named does now look attractively handicapped with Charlie Deutsch back in the saddle.

10/11
Saladins Son Win or Each Way

16:50 – Drash On Ruby

Again, there doesn’t look to be a lot of pace on here and that should suit the front-runner DRASH ON RUBY who confirmed her stamina for this sort of trip when an excellent second at Taunton a week ago and this likeable mare can gain a deserved first success. She didn’t jump particularly well that day but should appreciate having less pressure applied here. Jongleur d’Etoiles also didn’t jump that fluently last time but he may get back on track returned from a short break, with Howaya Now also of interest on the back of a breathing operation. Saunton Surf looks likely to be suited by this trip so, along with the in-form Jolie Baie, is respected for her in-form yard.

9/4
Drash On Ruby Win or Each Way

17:20 – Feet On The Ground

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ FEET ON THE GROUND again shaped well when 4½ lengths third to Surrey Belle at Uttoxeter last time and could take off in handicaps; with a strong gallop forecast she is preferred to recent Lingfield scorer Just Aidan – another strong-travelling sort – in this finale. Likely front-runner Gorcombe Moonshine and top-weight Saisissante can get involved in the battle for minor honours with Coco Brave who should improve now dropped in trip on better ground.

11/2
