13:45 Kelso – Grey Dawning
I’m leaning towards Grey Dawning over Iroko. The Skelton runner was a good second in the Betfair Chase at Haydock but never got going and pulled up in the King George at Kempton. Dan Skelton said going to Kelso was the plan so I have a bit of confidence in him running his race. The market will show a lot so keep an eye on it but this could be his stepping stone towards Aintree.
14:05 Doncaster – World Of Fortunes
If World Of Fortunes, who will likely go off favourite, was trained by Willie Mullins, she’d be an odds-on shot. It’s hard to look away from her. She’s a Listed hurdle winner and this looks a poor race. I respect Bobbi With An I’s chances but World Of Fortunes sets the standard. Connections will be gutted if she doesn’t get her head in front. She’s the most likely winner.
14:20 Kelso – Ace Of Spades
Ace Of Spades is quite short in the betting but it’s hard to get past him. He beat Junker d’Allier in a bumper and he’s now rated 127. He got off the mark over hurdles at Cheltenham when beating Country Park. He won at Kelso last time out too and I respect the Skelton yard massively. He could have plenty in hand.
14:40 Doncaster – Rare Edition (NAP)
I’m keen to take on Petit Tonnerre and I like Rare Edition for Charlie Longsdon. He’s very interesting and he’s dropping back to two miles here. He’s still a novice after switching to fences this season but he’s got solid form. The one blot in his form is the Ascot run last time out but cheekpieces are on for the first time on Saturday and he’s also had a wind op since. There are a lot of exposed types in here and dropping down in trip could bring out improvement.
14:55 Kelso – Castle Carrock
I’m happy to take on Chart Topper despite him winning his last two runs. He’s been sold to connections I’m not too familiar with so I’m against him and siding with Castle Carrock. He was very impressive when winning a bumper at Ayr and he followed that up when beating the long odds-on Diva Luna on his hurdles debut in January. He can improve and he’s got potential.
15:15 Doncaster – Surrey Quest
Surrey Quest is extremely consistent and he always runs his race. He was second in the Scottish National at Ayr last year and he’s put in a couple of decent runs this season. He’s a strong stayer and he won’t be too slow for the 3m 2f trip. I can see him hitting the frame if you want to back him each-way but he can get his head in front.
15:30 Kelso – Here Comes Georgie (each-way)
Emmet Mullins has Vischio and you can’t write her off but I’m with Here Comes Georgie at a big price. Patrick Neville’s runner is very interesting and she’s been running in lower grade races. You can write off his last run at Leopardstown and first-time cheekpieces have been added. He’s off a mark of 123 and he could have a bit in hand of the handicapper. He’s stepping up in grade and he’s worth a swing at a decent each-way price.
15:45 Newbury – Vincenzo
I really like Vincenzo and he has a huge chance. He’s a really consistent and likeable horse who has won two of his three runs over fences. Dylan Johnston claims 3lbs for Sam Thomas and he’s stepping up in trip to 2m 4f which should suit. He’s improved massively over fences and I can’t get past him.
