15:50 – Harrys Bar
Connections are obviously desperate to get a win with Harry’s Bar so he’s chucked in here in the opener. He’s been running in some very good races and lesser-exposed runners. He’s a course and distance winner and was a decent second last time out, a few weeks ago. He’s down in class and it’s a golden opportunity for him to win.
16:25 – No Return
I’m not fully sold on Gran Habano so I’m going against him with No Return. He’s interesting on his stable debut for Danny Murphy. His last couple of runs weren’t great on the all-weather track but he’s been gelded since the stable switch. Murphy has a great record when teaming up with Colin Keane so you may see a different running now. He could be his best coming off a break and he’ll enjoy the 6f distance.
17:00 – Lyle The Crocodile
Lyle The Crocodile, who is carrying top weight, won impressively at Dundalk in January. He finished strong that day and followed that up when second last time out to an improving Ohmyviette. That was over 6f and it proved to me that 7f is his ideal distance, which is what he gets tonight. He’s 10lbs higher than his last win and he sets the standard. He should be very hard to beat and Sam Coen claims 7lbs too.
17:30 – Volatile Analyst
Elegant Madame doesn’t so a lot wrong in defeat but she usually finds one too good. I’m with Stephen Thorne’s Volatile Analyst. He has a good set up and he beat Free Solo at Dundalk a couple of starts back. He then ran a solid race behind stable companion Hightimeyouwon. There wasn’t a strong gallop that day and he ran a good race given the conditions. He doesn’t have a lot in hand with the handicapper but Jack Kearney is on board and claiming 5lbs.
18:00 – Ze Do Asfalto
Ze Do Asfalto is entitled to be favourite and he’s the one to beat. It was a really strong effort last time at Dundalk. He went along at strong fractions and it backed up a couple of good runs at this track. If he runs to the same level, he should be hard to beat.
18:30 – Dallas Star
Dallas Star won the Group 3 Ballysax at Leopardstown last April and although the Epsom Derby didn’t go to plan, I’m expecting him to get back to winning ways on Friday. He has a great record fresh and he should be ready to go on his polytrack debut. If the market sides with Adrian Murray’s runner, I’ll be all over him.
19:00 – Heather (NAP)
Ger Lyons’ Heather looks very interesting and I can’t see past her. She ran a cracker on her debut when going down by a neck. Stepping up to 1m 2f should really suit her and she sets a very good standard.
19:30 – Omakase
Omakase was off the track for four years but she won at Dundalk last time out over course and distance. She’s lightly raced and unexposed. She should be able to step forward and the Peter Fahey yard had a winner in the week so they should be in good form.
