The unexposed Tarbet Ness has a good record on the Flat here and is an interesting runner on his handicap debut, but this can go to UPFORDEBATE, who showed improved form with a tongue-tie fitted at Ayr last time. Quian, a C&D winner two weeks ago, is another to consider.
15:00 – Fathers Advice
The suggestion is FATHERS ADVICE, who has yet to win over jumps but has run creditably on several occasions, including with new headgear on last time. Beat The Edge and My Portia are obvious dangers, although the latter has shown her best form when going right-handed.
15:30 – Spaceport
Armed with his 4yo allowance and fairly useful Flat ability, SPACEPORT holds a leading chance, provided he takes well to hurdles at the first attempt. Ballyvango is a solid danger, while The Last Cloud and Solent Gateway look best of the remainder.
16:00 – Not Staying Long (NAP)
Although she has been hit hard by the handicapper, NOT STAYING LONG (nap) has plenty in her favour and is taken to complete a hat-trick by beating last-time Sedgefield winner Master Breffni.
16:30 – From The Ashes
Having run better when third at Windsor last time, Irish raider FROM THE ASHES looks the one to beat. Musselburgh winner One More Stroke is unexposed at staying trips and could make further progress.
17:00 – Asa
Improving 6yo Forest Blaze looks interesting on this first venture beyond 2m4f, but it’s hard to get away from thriving mare ASA, who was a wide-margin winner when back over hurdles last week and has now collected three wins since Boxing Day. Clondaw Royale is next on the list.
