14:40 Hereford – Gris Majeur (The Times)
Preference is for GRIS MAJEUR, who got his act together over fences and ran a big race in defeat in higher-grade company at Ffos Las recently. Sheila Lewis’s 8yo remains well handicapped and now returns to the scene of two of his three hurdling wins. Intimate hasn’t shone the last twice but is not written off in view of his promising chase debut in December.
15:20 Naas – Duke Of Leggagh (Spotlight)
Tom Mullins holds a strong hand here with Kimi and San Aer, though very testing ground is an unknown for the former. Captains Nephew could go well off his lower hurdles mark, and the consistent Balko D’ange has claims, but preference is for the last time out C&D winner DUKE OF LEGGAGH.
His 7lb rise is negated by his jockey’s claim, he relishes heavy ground and there could be more to come from him in this sphere if he jumps better.
16:00 Fontwell – Lightonthewing (Telegraph)
Course chase winner LIGHTONTHEWING exploited a lower hurdle mark at Chepstow a fortnight ago and remains well-treated in this sphere. Bobalot was second on the same card and may be the chief danger ahead of Atlantic Power, who is open to improvement now up in trip on handicap debut.
16:40 Hereford – Minniemum (The Star)
Jo Lescribaa, whom Charlie Deutsch has presumably chosen ahead of stablemate Haut Folin, will take some beating, but it could pay to chance chasing newcomer MINNIEMUM. She ran well off this mark in a competitive hurdle last time, and given her smart pedigree, she should be every bit as good in this discipline.
