13:40 Nap Hand
This looks like a good opportunity for NAP HAND, a useful sort on the Flat, to get off the mark over hurdles. Nap Hand has not reproduced that useful level of form in two starts over hurdles but he has offered encouragement and finished placed on both occasions.
He was third on his hurdling debut and went one place better at Huntingdon, where he was beaten three-quarters of a length with the pair pulling clear. He sets the standard on that form and stands out as the one to beat. Under The Sun looks like the main danger as he ran to an even higher level on the Flat and is entitled to be sharper for his initial hurdling experience at Plumpton.
14:12 King Ulanda
Bumper winner KING ULANDA failed to make a significant impact in maiden and novice hurdles but he showed much-improved form to get off the mark on his handicap debut at Musselburgh.
King Ulanda travelLed well, made smooth headway in the straight, led on the bridle approaching the second last, and drew four lengths clear. He’s a scopey sort who should be strengthening up all the time, so he looks likely to carry on improving. He escapes a penalty for his Musselburgh success and should be difficult to beat off the same mark.
14:45 Morfee
MORFEE didn’t run up to his best when only fifth in the Sussex National here a couple of weeks ago, but he failed to settle over the longer trip and is better judged on his previous effort over this course and distance.
Morfee finished runner-up on his penultimate start and was beaten only two and three-quarter lengths by the subsequent Sussex National winner, Invincible Nao. He’s able to run off the same mark here, which is also the mark he defied when successful over course and distance last season.
15:15 Sole Solution
SOLE SOLUTION, a winner on both starts in bumpers, took a couple of outings to find his feet over hurdles, but he’s progressing well now and looks up to completing the hat-trick. Sole Solution got off the mark over hurdles in novice company at Hereford last month and then made a successful handicap debut at Sandown where he justified good support.
He was strong in the finish there, proving game when challenged, so he looks likely to benefit from this longer trip and could still have more to offer.
15:47 Jongleur Detoiles
JONGLEUR DETOILES has progressed well this winter and registered back-to-back handicap wins at Wincanton and Catterick.
He wasn’t at his best when only third in his hat-trick bid at Southwell last time, but he probably wasn’t helped by sticking to the unfavoured inside and looks worth another chance to build on the positive impression he had previously created. The continued good form of the Neil Mulholland stable is also in his favour.
16:22 Demoiselle Kap
French recruit DEMOISELLE KAP was down the field on her British debut on her only outing for Kieran Burke but bounced back to record a comfortable success in a handicap hurdle at Sedgefield a few weeks ago on her first start for Jennie Candlish.
Demoiselle Kap was a comfortable winner there, and it was a similar story in a handicap chase at Newcastle last time, where she impressed with her jumping on her first start over British fences. She has an 11 lb higher mark to deal with here but is clearly thriving and looks up to completing the hat-trick.
16:52 Lyle View
LYLE VIEW stepped up on her previous efforts when justifying support to get off the mark at Southwell a few weeks ago, passing the post with a four-and-a-half-length advantage despite hanging badly left after hitting the front.
Lyle View impressed with how she travelled through most of that contest and, given she’s still relatively unexposed, appeals as the sort who could rack up a sequence. A 9 lb rise in the weights is unlikely to stop her following up here.
