14:00 – Glynn Brae
GLYNN BRAE posted a fairly useful effort when easily going in over this course and distance last time and he’s fancied to successfully concede weight all round here and garner a third hurdles victory from five runs. Gary and Josh Moore’s French recruit Le Galli Bier has the form to play a big part though and rates a big threat while the progressive Champagne Chic also warrants plenty of respect on the back of his stylish Wincanton success.
14:30 – Celtic Ned
This is a weak event but at least CELTIC NED has some potential in this sphere. He shaped as if needing the run on his return and chasing debut, and he built on that effort at Wincanton last time while also leaving the impression he is working his way back to full fitness. He’s on a career-low mark now and isn’t one to dismiss. Leading Swoop and Wellwillya are both capable of going close off their current mark so are others to consider.
15:00 – Salver
The likeable SALVER is yet to win this season, but he proved better than ever when runner-up to the reopposing Nemean Lion at Windsor last time, going down fighting after attempting to make all of the running. He’s 3lb better off at the weights with that rival now and is taken to make another bold bid from the front at a track where his yard excels. Kerry Lee’s hat-trick seeker still rates a big danger though, while the consistent Blueking d’Oroux also has the form to go close in an intriguing National Spirit.

15:30 – Kalif d’Airy
Although KALIF D’AIRY has gone up 11 lb in his last three starts he was 21 lengths clear of the third when going down only to a progressive one at Sandown three weeks ago and he figures on an attractive mark still. The addition of first-time cheekpieces should have a positive effect and he’s preferred to Batwomen and Kruger Park, who also look interesting.
16:00 – Ami Bondhu
AMI BONDHU has shown enough in a brace of starts in handicaps to suggest he is capable of winning a modest race such as this. He remains unexposed at this distance and this looks a weaker race than last time. Lightonthewing is the only runner to have won a race this season, and he has claims of making it back-to-back victories, while Bobalot has a chance if in the same form as when finishing second on his reappearance/stable debut two weeks ago.
16:30 – Record High
RECORD HIGH is threatening to win over fences, a blunder three from home not helping his chance when runner-up over slightly further at this course last time, and this could be the race where he goes one place better. Dear Ralphy made an inauspicious start over fences over a year ago but he was in top form over hurdles in the summer and can go well fresh, so may emerge as the biggest threat with connections willing to have another go in this sphere.
17:00 – Gaelic Pride
Those with previous experience under Rules don’t set an exacting standard, so the vote goes to Harry Cobden’s mount GAELIC PRIDE, who cost £50,000 after making it fourth time lucky in points. Confidence in the five-year-olds chance would increased should the betting vibes be strong. Crossgales King and General Briar are other interesting recruits from the Irish point scene, while Cinquenta has shown a fair level of ability when twice third in similar races.
