13:50 Kempton – Rubaud
The Grade 2 Pendil Novices Chase is the first race from Kempton on ITV Racing and Rubaud looks a player. I always thought 2m was his trip but he has more of a chance of staying this 2m 4f trip now he’s over fences. He presses from the front so might just be able to get away from a couple of these. He was a 150-rated hurdler in that discipline.
14:10 Newcastle – History Of Fashion (each-way)
The 4m 1f Eider Chase is a tough-looking contest and the Irish raider History Of Fashion makes some appeal. He was sixth to Perceval Legallois in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas and was a good winner over 3m 5f at Fairyhouse. He’s a live each-way chance in an open race as a lot of this field may not see out this marathon trip.
14:25 Kempton – Mondo Man
Just six runners for the Grade 2 Adonis Juvenile Hurdle and it’s very hard to get past the odds-on favourite Mondo Man. He was second to the now Triumph Hurdle favourite Lulamba at Ascot (in receipt of 10lb), but pulled very hard that day. The trick will be to get him to relax in this contest and if he does, he should take a bit of beating. St Pancras was well beaten in fifth at Ascot and reopposes now, but was a little fortunate to win at Musselburgh last time. He can run a nice race and be one to keep an eye on over time.
15:00 Kempton – Miami Magic
Th conditions of the Grade 2 Dovecote Hurdle seem to set up perfectly for Miami Magic. He absolutely bolted up over course and distance in November. He gave 6lb and a 12 length beating to George’s Lad who is now rated 126 after winning at Doncaster and that’s strong form. He’s the one to beat.
15:35 Kempton – Lowry’s Bar (each-way)
A competitive 3m chase where Lowry’s Bar makes some appeal at the prices, despite top weight. He’s lightly-raced but had some big-field experience when second to Jagwar at Bangor in November. The ground will suit and he should improve for his first run over this 3m test.
