14:00 – Stressfree
This looks a good opportunity for STRESSFREE to build on a promising first effort over hurdles at Catterick on New Year’s Day. He’s a useful performer on the Flat and, with improvement likely in the jumping department, he can take advantage of an ordinary event. Supreme George might be the one to follow him home unless the betting speaks in the favour of hurdle newcomer Natzor, a former stablemate of the selection.
14:30 – Hay Meadow
This could go the way of Lucinda Russell’s point winner HAY MEADOW, who shaped well on her debut in this sphere when fourth at Hexham in December, and could take a sizeable step forward now her stamina is unlocked (shaped like a stayer). Vanilla Dancer is much more exposed but arrives at the top of her game and rates a big threat, while Jasmine d’Airy and Lizzie Luna also have the form to play a part.
15:00 – Looking Splendid
This certainly isn’t the strongest race for the grade, and LOOKING SPLENDID has shown enough in handicaps over this sort of distance to suggest he is more than capable of winning a race of this nature. Coral Blue performed with plenty of credit in a stronger race over this course and distance two weeks ago, so he is a danger, as is handicap-debutant Good Company, who could be better than what he’s shown in novice company.

15:30 – Bravethewaves
BRAVETHEWAVES proved none the worse for a spill on his chasing debut when getting off the mark under a confident ride at Catterick last month, and a subsequent 6 lb rise in the weights may well underestimate. The low-mileage Henry Gray is of interest back over fences, while Divas Doyen is another to consider if her latest run can be forgiven.
16:00 – Star Vantage
STAR VANTAGE hasn’t been with the Rebecca Menzies’ yard long, and again ran well when chasing home a stablemate at Southwell two weeks ago. He pulled clear of the remainder that day and he’s one to be interested in from this sort of mark so he’s selected now re-united with Brian Hughes. Take A Hike and Anamanda are others fancied to feature, with handicap-debutante Reflection Of You another to note, particularly if the market spoke in her favour.
16:30 – Jem In Em
JEM IN EM isn’t as exposed as the majority of these over fences, and he was last seen running a career-best effort when runner-up at Newcastle on his final start last season. He represents an in-form yard who can ready one after a break and makes most appeal in this field. Cardamon Hill, who is a past course and distance winner, arrives in form, so rates a danger, while Hold Onto The Line and Whosmydaddy also need factoring into this open handicap chase.
17:00 – Milajess
MILAJESS is a long-standing maiden, but she did bump into a handicap blot at Sedgefield last week, turning in her best effort for a while, and a similar performance should see her go close in this field. Heart Above was at the top of his game when last seen in November and heads the dangers along with Trailblazer. Handicap-newcomer King Ulanda would also be of interest if the betting vibes are strong.
