Cheltenham Triumph Hurdle tips: Rory Delargy’s 9/4 non runner money back play for the ‘perfect juvenile hurdler’

East India Dock has three wins from three runs under James Owen - and Rory reckons that'll be four by the end of the Festival.

*Paddy Power is now Non Runner Money Back for the 2025 Cheltenham Festival. That means that if your selection does not line up in the race you back it in for any reason – you will now get your stake back. TC’s apply.

*Paddy also has the more traditional ante-post market where you will lose your stake if your selection doesn’t run in the race for whatever reason.

Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Cheltenham Countdown’ is back as host Tom Nugent picks the brains of the Festival’s winning-most jockey turned TV pundit Ruby Walsh and well-known journalist and broadcaster Rory Delargy for their Cheltenham betting tips.

In the fourth episode of this year’s series, the gang have looked at the Triumph Hurdle ahead of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.

RORY DELARGY

East India Dock won the Juvenile Hurdle at Cheltenham last month and the pace of that race was brutal. There were well-regarded horses in there and they all just dropped off one by one.

He doesn’t seem to be setting a major pace but his rivals just can’t keep the same pace. He also loves jumping a hurdle and he’s tough as nails. He looks like he’d run through a brick wall for you.

The Triumph Hurdle is an easy equation – I’m on East India Dock.

Nicky Henderson’s Lulamba might be a superstar and his win at Ascot in January was decent enough but what he’s achieved is a lot less than East India Dock, who is almost a perfect juvenile hurdler.
