15:55 Newcastle – Gaassee
Gaassee looks like he has got his mojo back for the new Jack Morland team who picked him up for 20,000 guineas at the horses in training sale. He looks dangerously well treated with a peak rating of 103 and his all-weather record is very strong having had five runs and winning twice while placing on two more occasions. The trip looks ideal too.
17:30 Newcastle – Blast The Dream
Blast The Dream bumped into a very smart type at Lingfield prior to winning with plenty in hand at Southwell last time. She was strong at the line suggesting that the stiffer nature of the track at Newcastle is going to suit and from an opening mark of just 75, she can continue to improve up the ladder.
17:45 Wolverhampton – Sense Of Worth
Having run creditably on quite a few occasions around this venue, Sense Of Worth looks primed to go particularly well as his last run reads particularly strong in this line up. Again, we can expect him to be held up and produced late with quite a few in here who like to go forward. He has the addition of a tidy inside starting point from stall one too.
18:30 Newcastle – Forest Gunner
Forest Gunner was only having his first try for the David Simcock team when putting up a good performance at Wolverhampton despite looking a touch rusty as he was coming in off a 473 day break. He’s been given 26 days to recover from his exertions and the trainer thinks it’s worthy of sending him on the long journey north to try and gain that first victory.
18:45 Wolverhampton – Overnight Oats
Overnight Oats looks sure to go well with the young apprentice find of the current campaign Warren Fentiman on board. James Owen is operating at a 27% strike rate at the moment and Overnight Oats is very flexible regarding trips so a return to the long sprint 7f around here holds no fears for him.
20:15 Wolverhampton – Without Compromise
Without Compromise was originally 1.3 million guineas as a yearling and was then subsequently picked up unraced for 22,000 guineas from Godolphin. He has shown steady progression as he has gradually been stepped up in distance and can show another improved display as he steps up to what looks to be his ideal trip. A mark of 72 looks nowhere near his ceiling.
