THELONGLAD showed a lot more on chase debut in 2m2f Limerick handicap at Christmas under a positive ride, seemingly going best when falling two out; officially 2lb wrong here but likely better than this rating and should go well.
14:45 Ludlow – Simple Getaway (The Times)
The very lightly raced 7yo SIMPLE GETAWAY shaped as though he may have needed the run on his chase debut at Exeter on New Year’s Day, and he can get off the mark. Mistymal made a very good start to his chasing career and may not have been suited by the cheekpieces when pulled up last time. He is feared most ahead of course winner Iron d’Ex.
15:05 Sedgefield – Lone Star (Daily Express)
Yet to add to her five wins during the 2022-23 season, but LONE STAR was not beaten far when fifth of six at Catterick (2m3f, good) in December and will appreciate today’s ease in grade; can’t be ruled out off her sliding mark.
17:00 Kempton – The Spotlight Kid (Daily Mirror)
Help Me Rhonda still has some potential after just four starts for James Fanshawe, and although she ended up well beaten here three weeks ago, she was bang there when stumbling one furlong out. She’s high on the list, along with King Of Speed and Claxton Bay (second choice), but THE SPOTLIGHT KID comes here in fine form and can gain another Kempton success.
