13:35 – Laravie
This isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest and LARAVIE is fancied to build on her most recent run for her new yard at Fakenham. That was her handicap debut and she shaped better than the bare result, just weakening as if the run was still needed, and she can gain a first win now having been found a weak maiden hurdle. Ridin Solo is next on the list on the back of his solid Catterick fifth, with points scorer Kalo Athena another to consider now starting out hurdling.
14:05 – Zwicky
ZWICKY can boast a very positive record at this course, a two-time winner over hurdles and his form figures over fences read 122 here. He went like the best horse at the weights in a handicap chase over a similar trip to this last time, but he was bumped and stumbled slightly jumping two from home and was collared at the last. He’s 3 lb lower back over hurdles and seems sure to launch another bold bid. This stamina test should suit The Questioner and he’s feared most ahead of Sam Drinkwater’s Twp Stori.
14:35 – Tom Creen
The wonderfully consistent TOM CREEN made it course win number five under a positive ride six weeks ago and similar tactics dropped back in trip here should see him a tough nut to crack once more in a race where he should be able to get an easy lead. Recent Catterick second Master Breffni rates next best ahead of Natural Ability, whilst market support for either Sabbathical or Jeu Sacre would look significant.
15:05 – Roccos Inspiriation
ROCCOS INSPIRATION hasn’t fired so far this season, but she has fallen in the weights as a result, and this perhaps isn’t as strong of a race than she has been contesting of late. Interestingly, she is now wearing cheekpieces for the first time for this yard, and Lewis Saunders takes off 7 lb, so there is reason to think she will be competitive back up North, especially based on the pick of her form. Trailblazer and Rioja Alta head the opposition.
15:35 – Let’s Go Joe
LET’S GO JOE seemed stretched by the step up to three miles at Wetherby last time, weakening on the run-in, but he did more than enough to suggest he remains in good form, and is fancied to get back to winning ways back over this more suitable trip. Bridgetjoans confirmed her return to form when third at Newcastle the previous month, while Born In The West is an interesting handicap debutant and requires close market scrutiny.
16:05 – Bebside Banter
BEBSIDE BANTER made a winning reappearance over 21 furlongs at this course in November and he was also a creditable third over the same course and distance three weeks later. He turned in a rare poor effort at Catterick last time, but his record at this course is hard to argue with, so he is worth chancing to get back on the up returned to this venue. I’m Too Tired also goes well round here and can pose the biggest threat in a weak handicap.
16:35 – Addosh
ADDOSH arrives here on the back of a good recent Flat run at Southwell and, while she isn’t always the most fluent jumper of a hurdle, she is taken to resume winning ways back in this sphere from what looks a fair mark, likely at the chief expense of in-form maidens Belle Montrose and Winds of Winter, who can chase home James Owen’s mare in that order. Milajess completes the shortlist.
