13:10 Southwell – Pitwood Road (Sporting Life)

Pretty good cases can be made for Zestful Hope, Ideallko, Golden De Coeur and Fever Dream (preferred in that order) but the suggestion is Irish mare PITWOOD ROAD, who drops back in trip after running well for a long way over 3m1f at Thurles in December and is still unexposed over fences.

14:45 Southwell – Heart Over Head (Racing Post)

We haven’t seen him since last February, but HEART OVER HEAD made a very promising bumper debut, and could be hard to beat if all goes to plan here. Little Dipper also showed significant bumper ability last year but three-times Flat winner Elforleather may pose the main threat to the selection.

15:30 Carlisle – Golden Maverick (Postdata)

With the visor retained, GOLDEN MAVERICK could regain the winning thread. His latest effort can be marked up and this drop back in distance shouldn’t be an issue. Improving Kalium is feared most, ahead of Eire Street and Russian Virtue, who both have a 50% strike-rate in handicap hurdles.

16:00 Carlisle – Travail d’Orfevre (Racing Post)

Consistent TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE is unexposed over 3m and is taken to follow up his Ayr success. Nights In Venice, who tied in with the selection on form last February, is second choice ahead of last year’s winner Breeze Of Wind. Several others can be respected for one reason or another.
