13:10 – Henrysbrotherjack
HENRYSBROTHERJACK opened his account in impressive style at Uttoxeter in December, well supported and relishing the step up in trip. This bigger test of stamina will suit him well, too, and he remains on a workable mark despite a 10lb rise, so he’s expected to go again. GMS Prince is on a handy mark and appeals as the one to chase home Olly Murphy’s six-year-old, with in-form pair Ami Bondhu and Jingle Jangle Jet also in the picture.
13:40 – I’m A Lumberjack
I’M A LUMBERJACK confirmed the promise of his hurdling debut in tidy fashion at Warwick and with a performance supported by the time figure. He’s taken to defy a penalty at the first time of asking, with the sharp nature of this track likely to play to his strengths than perhaps Belliano’s, whose long-term future surely lies over further after taking time to wear down the leader over an extended 21f at Ascot on his most recent outing.
14:10 – Socialiser
A plausible scenario is that SOCIALISER leaves his hurdles form a long way behind, now going handicapping over fences, a theory given weight by his encouraging Rules debut at second in a maiden hunter. Admittedly that was back in 2022, and he’s been seen just twice since, but it’s surely significant that connections are persevering. Emotional Roller and Asa opened their chase accounts last time and are feared most in that order, while Dark Mix is also of interest.
14:40 – Morandi Second
This looks wide open, but MORANDI SECOND comes here on the back of an excellent third at Sedgefield, shaping well for the most part, only to be let down by some sloppy jumping late on. With the prospect of better to come if he hurdles better, he’s expected to take advantage of a potentially lenient mark. In-form Treasured Company is next on the list while Rock On Tommy and Voix de Bocelli also need factoring into this open handicap.
15:10 – Rialannah
RIALANNAH remains a maiden, but she is quite a consistent mare, who won’t need to pull out much more now fitted with first-time cheekpieces to get off the mark. She travelled well at Doncaster last time and a similar performance will see her go close in this field. The thriving Court Cian is second choice, while Hardy Fella should be on the premises, if able to back up last month’s Wincanton second.
15:45 – Tanganyika
In light of what he achieved over hurdles, TANGANYIKA is likely to prove a good deal better than what he showed in two starts in this sphere to date. He jumped better than on his chasing debut, but looked a tired horse in the closing stages, and he could be the answer to this competitive contest for a yard that do well with such types. Heard That has won two of his four starts since switching to fences and he looks a big threat, along with the consistent Peejaybee.
16:20 – La Zoubida
LA ZOUBIDA bumped into last month’s course and distance listed winner Kingston Queen in second on her debut at Sedgefield over Christmas and is taken to build on that promise and go one place better. Alan King pair Sharp Glance and Baby Thyme, a newcomer who is seemingly preferred by stable jockey Tom Cannon, head the dangers along with Sedgefield-scorer Lady Kluck.
