Rory Delargy’s Mares Chase Non Runner Money Back Tips:
Bioluminescence
Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Cheltenham Countdown’ is back as host Tom Nugent picks the brains of the Cheltenham Festival’s winning-most jockey turned TV pundit Ruby Walsh and well-known journalist and broadcaster Rory Delargy.
On the third of this year’s series, the gang have looked at the Mares’ Chase ahead of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.
RORY DELARGY
Impervious was really impressive when winning at Cheltenham and Punchestown in 2023, but I can’t be backing her if she doesn’t run before the Festival. She hasn’t got any entries and I’d want to see her soon before investing in her.
Only By Night is a hard one to work out, but she looked really good last time out at Cork. She’s got talent, for sure.
Bioluminescence finished second behind Dancing City at Naas at the end of January, but all of her form is on soft or heavy ground. She wants it to be testing at Cheltenham.
She’s a really likeable mare. She’s a proper chaser and you can see her winning a big race later down the line.
She ran well behind Dancing City and I thought she’d stay all day, but I wasn’t entirely convinced after watching that Naas run.
That was over an extended three miles and she got tired after the last. Her jumping was really good though.
I really like Bioluminescence and you’d probably prefer the Mares’ Chase to be a couple of furlongs further. You’d be desperate for the ground too.
If she rocks up and the ground is in her favour, you definitely want to be with her. She’ll be ridden aggressively, too, because she can get a few of them in trouble with her solid jumping.
I’m not punting right now, but Bioluminescence is the mare I like the most. She’s very exciting.
