We know it’s hard but just forget Cheltenham 2025 for a minute and let your eyeballs feast upon the Dublin Racing Festival this weekend as jumps racing gets ready to go nuclear.
There’s two days of thrilling action at the Foxrock track where Saturday’s card features the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup (3.30pm) along with three other Grade One contests. Huzzah!
A big day calls for some big calls so we’ve enlisted so we’ve enlisted all weather supremo Fran Berry, former top jumps jockey turned ace TV pundit Mick Fitzgerald, FTHM podcaster and value seeker Rory Delargy and the ratings rascals at Timeform to give us their top tips, unrivalled insight and best guesses.
Paddy’s already gone Non Runner Money Back ahead of the mid-March fiesta so you’re guaranteed to get your Cheltenham stake back should there be any mis-hap between now and the 48-hour declaration time for your pick’s Cheltenham target.
Let the games begin…

Final Demand won really impressively at Limerick on his debut and that form has held up. Conditions should suit him very well and he’s hugely exciting.
Rory Delargy
Wingmen can confirm the form from the Lawlor’s of Naas when he finished third that day. He kept on well to the line and he’s better than the bare result. He can place at least.
Mick Fitzgerald
Final Demand is one of five declared from the Willie Mullins’ stable. He’s a little keen in his racing style so I’d be worried if there’s not much pace on. He’s smart though and looks the one to be on.
Timeform
Final Demand made a smooth transition to hurdling when scoring in impressive fashion at Limerick in December and, with that form proving strong, he looks more than capable of making his mark up appreciably in grade.
Fran Berry
It’s hard to separate the top three in the market and I’m happy to watch them and go elsewhere to side with Galileo Dame. She shaped very well when second to Wendrock over course and distance in December. She’s got a lot of potential and she’s my each-way play.
Rory Delargy
Joseph O’Brien’s Galileo Dame could be the value each-way pick against Hello Neighbour, Sainte Lucie and Lady Vega Allen. She impressed on her National Hunt debut when second at Christmas. She can improve on that.
Mick Fitzgerald
Sainte Lucie was an impressive winner on her Irish debut for Willie Mullins and getting 7lb in weight will help her cause a lot. She’ll do for me.
Timeform
Willie Mullins has saddled the last three winners of this Grade 1 and Sainte Lucie could be another for the all-conquering yard. Having shaped well when third on her sole start in France, she was impressive on debut for Mullins at Punchestown and there should be plenty more to come from this filly.
Fran Berry
King Alexander and Patter Merchant are both each-way options to take on the top two in the market. Patter Merchant has strung together a couple of good runs in graded company while King Alexander, who won at Fairyhouse a few weeks ago, is worth keeping on side.
Rory Delargy
There are a few pace angles and Fortunedefortunata can come from off the pace. He can make a late run for Gordon Elliott at a huge price. The race could set up for him.
Mick Fitzgerald
A 3m handicap with 26 runners declared won’t be an easy puzzle to solve. Gaoth Chuil was second to Maxxum in this contest last year off a mark of 129 and is not much higher now off 133. Josh Williamson takes off 7lb and he could be a bit of value to hit the frame again.
Timeform
Glen Kiln could be the value angle on the back of his impressive display at Navan where he left the strong impression that this step back up in trip would be no bad thing.
Fran Berry
Majborough won the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham and he was very taking when winning his seasonal return at Fairyhouse in December. He showed a lot of speed and he can win again.
Rory Delargy
Il Atlantique has always travelled strongly but he’s still ended up getting beaten in the closing stages. He’s better over fences and he can roll along. He won very well at Naas last time out and Paul Townend has got to know him very well.
Mick Fitzgerald
Stablemate Ile Atlantique has a little more experience over fences than stablemate Majborough. However, he has to concede weight to last year’s Triumph Hurdle winner and that just swings it for me.
Timeform
Willie Mullins has saddled seven of the last 10 winners of this race and in Majborough and Ile Atlantique the yard is represented by two very promising novices this time round. The latter is not passed over at all lightly but the sky could be the limit for last season’s Triumph Hurdle winner Majborough, who looked mighty good on his chase debut and just fourth career start overall at Fairyhouse.
Fran Berry
Galopin Des Champs is as good as ever and he loves Leopardstown. Fact To File may be able to get closer at Cheltenham but I don’t see it happening on Saturday!
Rory Delargy
I want to see Fact To File go to the Gold Cup at Cheltenham so I don’t want to see him fail here and go elsewhere. Hopefully he puts it up to Galopin Des Champs. I like the look of Monty’s Star in a betting without Galopin Des Champs market. He’ll come forward from a decent couple of runs and Henry de Bromhead’s runners should pick up now.
Mick Fitzgerald
Galopin Des Champs is looking for his third Irish Paddy Power Gold Cup ahead of a bid for a third Cheltenham Gold Cup in mid-March. I’m fascinated to see if they let Fact To File roll along or try to break his stride like they did last time. It’s hard to go against Galopin Des Champs.
Timeform
The outstanding Galopin Des Champs can confirm his Christmas meeting superiority over stablemate Fact To File and land a third successive win in this race. Monty’s Star is taken to reverse Tramore reappearance form with Embassy Gardens and prove best of the remainder.
Fran Berry
My Mate Mozzie is the standout and I’m very excited to see him. He could be a handicap blot and he’s had some brilliant runs recently. His record fresh is very strong too.
Rory Delargy
I’m sticking with an old friend in My Mate Mozzie. He’s been very consistent throughout his career and you usually get a run from him when he’s wound up for a race. He’s got a touch of class and he can go well fresh.
Mick Fitzgerald
FASCILE MODE was a winner over this trip at Punchestown three starts back and started his career when winning a bumper at this venue in December 2022. There could be more to come.
Timeform
Plenty with chances but Midnight It Is rates the pick of the weights on the back of his good recent Fairyhouse third so looks the way to go. Handicap-debutant Fascile Mode could emerge as the main danger.
Fran Berry
Green Splendour kept on well to win over course and distance last time out. He can step forward from that run. It’s not a majorly confident pick though!
Rory Delargy
I Started A Joke could be an interesting one after winning on his debut at Limerick for Charles Byrnes. The form has held up and it’s a tentative selection.
Mick Fitzgerald
I’m going to take a punt on Charles Byrnes’ I Started A Joke. Finian Maguire is booked to ride and he could be a bit of value against the Mullins’ and Gordon Elliott’s runners.
Timeform
Usually a bumper that produces stars and He Can’t Dance could be the way to go after his runaway success at Navan. Willie Mullins sends out Green Splendour, who won the C&D bumper Facile Vega did before taking this in 2022, and he has obvious claims.
