16:40 Wolverhampton – Felix
The old boy of the party doesn’t appear to have lost too much pep in his step. FELIX put up a really good performance last time around this venue. A rating of 93 is a really competitive mark for him and he also goes particularly well for this pilot, Hollie Doyle.
16:50 Newcastle – Frankies Dream
FRANKIES DREAM has been a model of consistency since going handicapping and he’s building himself a very strong all-weather profile. He was arguably a little bit unlucky over this course two runs ago and the extra yardage looks like it will play to his strengths.
18:40 Wolverhampton – Aikhal
A one-time triple-digit performer when trained over in Ireland. AIKHAL has fallen dramatically in the handicap and sits perched on a very lowly-looking 68 now. There’s another £40,000 up for grabs for the leading performer in February and it may be possible for this lad to throw his hat into the ring for that prize.
18:55 Newcastle – Quandary
QUANDARY was returning off a 179-day break when we saw her over the long sprint at Newcastle 11 days ago. She looked to be travelling like the winner when leading over a furlong out and then got slightly tired in the closing stages. Given natural improvement after that absence, she’s going to hit the line stronger tonight.
19:25 Newcastle – Tommytwohoots
TOMMYTWOHOOTS has been super consistent on his last three tries at this venue. He possibly went a little too hard up on the front end after anticipating the start last time. He may well benefit from being given a little bit of a chance early on and there looks to be a decent pace to run at.
19:40 Wolverhampton – Ben Y Bryn
BEN Y BRYN looks the low-mileage improver in this line-up and has been gelded for his return some 455 days away from competitive action. The fact that such a big operation has kept him on the go after only winning a restricted maiden at Chelmsford would suggest they feel he has potential to climb a good way from where he sits at present.
