17:00 Drifts Away

Consistent, won or placed in five of nine starts; DRIFTS AWAY won back-to-back at Chelmsford and Southwell (both 1m) in the autumn, and has coped with the subsequent weights rise; same mark here as when fading late at Southwell (1m, third; 9-4 favourite) earlier this month.

17:30 Opera Ballo

Those with experience have achieved little, and although Formal Address and Hawkesbury Legend need monitoring with a view to handicaps, this should go to a newcomer. Ledanis and OPERA BALLO are the obvious pair on breeding, and the Godolphin runner is narrowly preferred.

18:00 Quai De Bethune

Unlike the first division there is some fair form to go, albeit in the case of standard-setting Shihoku it was 571 days ago. He is considered, while newcomer Sabugal is also of some interest, but the three to focus on may be Invincible Duke, Zoffandia, and QUAI DE BETHUNE.

The selection took a while for the penny to drop on his sole 2yo outing, but he was strong through the line on that occasion and could prove a different proposition this year. Invincible Duke should build on his debut run and is feared most.

18:30 The Outlaw

Top of the list is THE OUTLAW, who showed improved form to win by nearly 3l when upped to 1m at Chelmsford last time and can follow up. Mr Ubiquitous was a good second at Wolverhampton last month and could pose the main threat. Montbeliarde can also run well.

19:00 Monopolise (NAP)

With a major change in fortunes since the tongue-tie went on five starts back, MONOPOLISE (NAP) looks the most solid option and can add to this winter’s two wins over 1m.

King David has had a rather infuriating time of it recently, for instance from stall 1 over C&D last time. Today he goes from stall 12, which might not be ideal either but he still needs plenty of respect. Midnight’s Dream is feared most among the rest, having been gelded.

19:30 Trouble Man

It’s too early to be giving up on Sergio Parisse but his short-priced defeat last time was underwhelming. The new tongue tie can help and he’s on the shortlist, with Oakley Boy and Horus (second choice) also seriously considered. TROUBLE MAN perhaps has the most potential for further improvement, though, and he gets the nod in a tricky puzzle.

20:00 Mr Nugget

Reasonably competitive for the grade, with Sneaky Blinder, The Colorist, and Fiddlers Green all respected. However, it could pay to focus more on Fravanco (second choice) and MR NUGGET. The selection has seemingly improved since being gelded, and didn’t really have a fair crack at things when fourth at Wolverhampton on Saturday. It has to be considered a positive that Hector Crouch takes over in the saddle.

20:30 Shaad

Ten-race maiden; SHAAD bounced back to form with second-place finish at Wolverhampton (2m) most recently, reversing Southwell November placings with Alex The Great; may have a race of this nature in him.
