Jubilee Alpha (each-way)

Paddy Power Media’s ‘From The Horse’s Mouth’ podcast ‘Cheltenham Countdown’ is back as host Tom Nugent picks the brains of the Cheltenham Festival’s winning-most jockey turned TV pundit Ruby Walsh and well-known journalist and broadcaster Rory Delargy.

On the third of this year’s series, the gang have looked at the Mares Novices Hurdle ahead of the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.

RORY DELARGY

Jubilee Alpha is the best UK chance in the Mares’ Novices Hurdle.

She is very likeable and she has a lot of experience. She won at Taunton and that was a Listed race so it was quite a solid contest which she won nicely.

Jubilee Alpha is rock solid

She also won at Windsor in late January while carrying a penalty.

You could argue that she’s won at a couple of sharp tracks but I feel she wants a galloping track.

If you go back to her debut at Newbury last year where she didn’t jump and scared herself a bit, she went on to finish really strongly.

She should have won that race, she’s won both runs since and Cheltenham will really suit her. She’s rock solid.

It’s not really a punting race right now but if I had to back a runner today I’d side with Jubilee Alpha as the track and trip will suit her, while she shouldn’t get unsettled by the occasion.

She’ll be really hard to keep out of the frame so I’ll stick with her as an each-way punt.
