13:12 – Night Jet
NIGHT JET has had plenty of chances, but he at least arrives here on the back of a couple of creditable efforts, so he has fewer questions to answer than most. He’s produced his better efforts at around two miles, but he should stay this far, and he gets the vote over handicap hurdle debutant Home And Dry who offered some encouragement in fifth at Hereford last spring on his second start over jumps.
13:45 – Livingit Du Large
LIVINGIT DU LARGE was sent off as a short-price favourite on his debut in a junior hurdle at Warwick in November, but he seemed more in need of the experience than the market anticipated, and finished third after getting outpaced. He is clearly well regarded and is entitled to be sharper with that experience under his belt, so he is taken to raise his game here. Intosomethinggood improved on previous efforts in third in a junior bumper at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and is entitled to respect on his hurdling debut.
14:15 – Lanesborough
LANESBOROUGH didn’t make a telling impact in maiden or novice company, but showed much-improved form when runner-up on his handicap debut at Hereford a couple of weeks ago, and left the impression he should have won. He was ridden patiently and still had plenty to do 2f out, but finished strongly and only missed out by a head, with a slow jump at the final flight proving the difference between defeat and victory. He remains open to improvement and should be suited by a step up in trip.
14:45 – Cabhfuilfungi
CABHFUILFUNGI has quickly made up into a better chaser than hurdler and he made the most of a good opportunity to get off the mark over fences at Southwell on New Year’s Day. That was a simple task, but he jumped and travelled well, and should still have a bit more to offer in this sphere. He can brush aside a 6lb rise in the weights to follow up.
15:17 – Jo Lescribaa
JO LESCRIBAA failed to impress with his jumping in third on his chasing debut at Ludlow in November, but he put in a much cleaner round when successful at Uttoxeter last month. He impressed with how enthusiastically he travelled, leaving the impression there could be more to come, he still appeals as being on a handy mark despite going up 6 lb in the weights. The Scorpion King is thriving at present and arrives on the back of a couple of wins at Ffos Las, so he appeals as the obvious danger.
15:52 – Blazeon Five
BLAZEON FIVE was a useful handicapper and five-time winner on the Flat for Roger Teal and she is entitled to step up on what she showed in fourth on her hurdling debut at Wincanton last month. She was unable to sustain her effort on her first start for more than a year, but she should be fitter with that run under her belt.
16:24 – Gentleman Toboot
GENTLEMAN TOBOOT was an easy winner on his only start in Irish points and he showed plenty in third in a strong bumper on his debut under Rules at Newton Abbot in October, going like the winner for a long way, only for his inexperience to tell late on. He confirmed that positive impression as a wide-margin winner at Fontwell in December and looks up to defying a penalty here.
