12:25 – George’s Lad
GEORGE’S LAD has shown progressive form over hurdles and was beaten only a length when runner-up at Huntingdon a few weeks ago.
He stuck to his task well in the style of one who will appreciate a stiffer test, so this step up in trip should suit him, and his trainer, Emma Lavelle, is in flying form.
12:55 – Salt Rock
SALT ROCK justified the decision to fast-track him to chasing when making a successful start over fences at Hereford last month.
He was ridden patiently but made good headway out wide after three out, and led soon after the last and stayed on well to beat a hat-trick-seeking rival.
That was a highly encouraging start over fences and he remains open to improvement, so he looks up to defying a 6 lb rise in the weights.
13:28 – Gwennie May Jem
GWENNIE MAY JEM didn’t show much in maiden or novice hurdles but offered more encouragement when third on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter in November.
Gwennie May Jem stayed on gradually behind a couple of unexposed rivals in a decent race for the grade – the runner-up has won his three subsequent starts – and he should appreciate this step up in trip.
He’s in top hands with Dan Skelton and capable of better.
14:03 – Mythical Moon
MYTHICAL MOON made a successful start over hurdles at Stratford in October, impressing with how well he travelled. That form worked out nicely, with the second and third horses both winning the next time out.
Mythical Moon ran to a similar level when third under a penalty at Exeter last month, in another interesting race of its type, and he remains with potential.
14:38 – Jack Sprat
JACK SPRAT hadn’t looked a natural over fences, but he proved well suited by the return to hurdling at Exeter, where he won ten days ago.
Jack Sprat wasn’t all out to score there and because that was a race for conditional jockeys, he doesn’t have to carry a penalty here.
He’s still relatively unexposed over staying trips and looks capable of following up here.
15:13 – Scene One
SCENE ONE ran poorly on his return at Bangor in November but stepped up markedly when he was runner-up at Leicester last month.
He confirmed his return to form when filling the same position behind a rejuvenated rival at Fakenham last time.
Scene One stuck to his task well after getting outpaced and he’ll benefit from this step up in trip.
Harry Cobden will assist him in the saddle for the first time, and trainer Lucy Wadham has her horses in fine form.
15:48 – Times Are Green
TIMES ARE GREEN needed the experience on debut at Southwell last month, but he ultimately shaped with promise in sixth and should do better with that under his belt.
Times Are Green was pushed along soon after halfway and still had plenty to do approaching the home turn, but he kept on well from the second last.
This stiffer track and longer home straight should suit him and he can take a step forward.
