16:03 – Joolianoss
Phone Tag (second choice) and Rainwater are closely matched and very much in the mix but JOOLIANOSS is a lightly raced improver who could have their measure. There are others with chances, notably Jewel Maker who was an unlucky loser last time.
16:40 – Shesashambles
Several of these have become hard to win with, including SHE’SASHAMBLES but a reproduction of her close third at Southwell last time would give her a solid chance. C&D winner Raft Up would have finished closer to her there with a clear run so has to be respected, while last month’s Wolverhampton winner Bungle Bay (second choice) may get away with the shorter trip on this stiff track.
17:15 – Fircombe Hall (NAP)
Course specialist Athollblair Boy is 10lb lower than when winning this race last year so is hard to rule out, but preference is for FIRCOMBE HALL (nap), no stranger to the winners’ enclosure here himself and back off the same mark as when last successful. The drop in grade may see a better effort from Giselles Izzy, while the unexposed Kranjcar is another for the shortlist.
17:45 – Volenti
Time Tested has taken off since handicapping (12121) and should play a part if he is as effective back on Tapeta. Course specialist Cusack has to be considered although he may struggle to confirm recent C&D running with Miners Gamble (second choice). However, it may be worth giving another chance to VOLENTI who won three times over C&D late last year, while it’s possible to make excuses for his last two defeats. Electric Avenue looks best of the others.
18:15 – Inspired
Pride Of Donegal is the pick of those with experience but he’s no worldbeater and it’s not hard to take a chance on INSPIRED, who cost 300,000gns and is out of a smart mare. Chess Dad also needs checking in the market, as does City Landscape despite him making his debut in headgear.
18:45 – A Fine Claret
Manton Road has to be respected having finished first past the post at Lingfield last week and then scored in tidy fashion at Wolverhampton yesterday, while Penelope Valentine is high on the list after finishing runner-up in both her handicaps. Another chance is given to A FINE CLARET who disappointed at Southwell four days ago having won well there the time before, but the fact that he is returning to the track so soon is heartening.
19:15 – Ahamoment
Brazilian Rose is a filly in sizzling form and will be a threat to all in her bid for the four-timer if she sees out the trip on this stiffer track. The Ruth Carr-trained pair Streak Lightning and Bobby Joe Leg are capable of playing a part if things pan out their way, but the vote goes to AHAMOMENT who is 3lb lower than when winning a division of this race last year. Tasever may enjoy the run of the race in front and could be hard to pass if he does.
19:45 – Until Dawn
This stiff 5f should suit Frankies Dream who has finished strongly in his last two races and remains on a good mark. However, UNTIL DAWN wasn’t far behind the second choice at Wolverhampton despite hanging right throughout and she has no bend to contend with this time. Cuban Lynx and Roselily also enter the picture.
